Job Description

Hanken School of Economics invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher to join the Business Finland-funded project “Green Growth: Making Sustainability Profitable in Business-to-Business Markets”.  The position is fixed-term (50% of full-time) for 18 months, starting as soon as possible, and is based in Helsinki, Finland. Hanken School of Economics is one of the leading business schools in the Nordic countries. It is located in Finland, with campuses in Helsinki and Vaasa. Hanken offers a range of B. Sc. , M. Sc. , EMBA, PhD, and Executive Development programmes taught mainly in English and Swedish.

Hanken has 2 725 Bachelor and Master’s students, and 118 Doctoral students.  Project and Role OverviewThe Green Growth project investigates how B2B companies can market and sell sustainable offerings profitably. It focuses on value proposition design, pricing strategies, buyer decision-making, and sales communication in sustainability contexts. This postdoctoral position supports the execution of project deliverables and involves empirical research, collaboration with industry partners, and academic publishing. The selected researcher will work closely with the Hanken-based project team and contribute to high-quality outputs in the areas of sustainability, marketing, and sales.

Main TasksLead contact establishment and conduct interviews with B2B companiesAnalyze qualitative dataContribute to the writing and publication of academic articlesSupport the preparation of project deliverables (e. g. , workshops, public seminars)Participate in team meetings and knowledge-sharing activitiesRequirementsApplicants must: Hold a PhD in marketing, management, sustainability, or a related field (applicants close to defending will be considered)Demonstrate excellent command of EnglishHave proven experience in qualitative research methodsAdditional Merits: The following qualifications will be considered assets:

Background in B2B marketing, sustainable business, or strategic salesFluency in FinnishPeer-reviewed academic publicationsExperience in empirical, practice-oriented researchFamiliarity with data collection tools and qualitative analysis software (e. g. , NVivo)SalaryThe position is 50% full-time (annual full-time working hours: 1612 hours) and located in Helsinki. Hanken require faculty to reside and work in Finland. During the academic year, it is expected that a minimum average of three days per week is spent at the office in Helsinki to actively contribute to the research and teaching environment.

Teaching tasks are allocated based on the curriculum needs of the subject and by considering applicant’s expertise.  The salary is based on the university salary system in Finland (includes employee healthcare as well as pension and holiday contributions); however, the exact salary level depends on the recruited individual’s qualifications and performance. The gross annual salary is expected to range between €47,700 and €51,300, pro-rated for both contract duration and 50% employment.
