Job DescriptionTe Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunityJoin us in shaping a safe, supportive, and engaging living and learning environment for our university students.We are seeking a highly organised and professional individual to join our Student Accommodation team as a Kairuruku Wharenoho | Resident Coordinator to work evenings at our central Auckland student halls of residence. This varied role focuses on the emotional, physical, and academic well-being of all residents, providing a unique dual focus on student welfare and operations.You will support the Resident Manager by splitting your time across three essential functions:Administration & Operations: Deliver crucial administrative support, including purchasing, financial reconciliation, managing emails, and overseeing front-line customer care (e.g., check-in/out, key management). You will also manage operational tasks like monitoring contractor services and conducting building checks.Pastoral Care & Leadership: Manage, mentor, and support our team of part-time Resident Advisers (RAs). Provide front-line advice and support to residents, escalating serious welfare issues as necessary.Events Organising & Community Engagement: Lead the planning and facilitation of small-scale student events (usually between 100 and 300 people), fostering a supportive student community.Hours of work: Tuesday to Saturday, 2:30 pm – 10:30 pm during the academic year, with flexible hours available over the summer months.This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), permanent position. Ideally, with experience as a student living in halls of residence.Your application will stand out if you have experience working within similar educational or support environments. We are seeking a team player with some supervisory or mentoring experience with a warm, open style and the high personal integrity needed to uphold respectful standards in a diverse community. You must be experienced in a multifaceted role with previous involvement in event planning and execution/operations, and demonstrate a willingness to take initiative and embrace new learnings.Do you function best in the evenings and enjoy lying in during the morning?
