Headquartered in Espoo, Finland. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role located in Riau, Indonesia, for a Resident Engineer at Valmet. The Resident Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and managing engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. Daily tasks include coordinating with clients, supervising site activities, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations. The Resident Engineer will also prepare reports, documentation, and presentations to communicate project status and progress to stakeholders.Technical Support & Service: • Perform installation, commissioning, inspection, and testing of Valmet flow control solutions (valves, actuators, positioners, etc.) • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on-site • Provide emergency troubleshooting and technical support to customers • Supervise local contractors during installation and service workCustomer Relationship Management: • Act as the primary technical contact for assigned customer accounts • Provide training and technical guidance to customer personnel • Maintain regular communication with customer site management and engineers • Collect customer feedback to improve service offeringsOperational Responsibilities: • Prepare service reports, technical documentation, and feedback reports • Ensure all work complies with safety and quality standards • Support sales team with technical expertise during upgrades, retrofits, or spare parts discussionsCoordination & Support: • Liaise with Valmet regional offices and global product support teams for advanced problem resolution • Assist in warranty handling, failure analysis, and root cause investigations • Track and report installed base information at customer sitesRequirements:Education & Experience: • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Instrumentation, or Electrical Engineering • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in valve maintenance, automation, or flow control systems (preferably in Pulp Paper,Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, or Power industries)Technical Skills: • Strong knowledge of control valves, on-off valves, actuators, and positioners (Neles, Jamesbury, Valmet NDX preferred) • Experience with DCS/PLC interfacing is an advantage • Familiarity with site safety practices and regulations in IndonesiaSoft Skills: • Good communication and interpersonal skills • Customer-focused mindset with a proactive attitude • Ability to work independently and in remote locations • Willingness to travel across Indonesia or be stationed at customer sites long-termLanguages: • Proficient in Bahasa Indonesia and English
