Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive professional to conduct independent reviews of administrative decisions across various operational areas and business units within the Commission. In this role, you will communicate review outcomes clearly to affected parties, fostering positive relationships with both customers and staff. Additionally, you will identify opportunities to enhance processes, policies, and procedures, providing constructive feedback to the Manager of the Internal Review unit and staff. If you have strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to continuous improvement, we’d love to hear from you!This position is based in Brisbane and flexible arrangements can be considered upon application, including working from home and working remotely at a Regional QBCC office (subject to availability).QBCC supports the growing Queensland community through our contribution to a thriving and resilient building and construction industry that supports sustainable social, environmental and economic outcomes for the state.QBCC's regulatory purpose is to reduce risk in the building and construction industry, offer protection from harm, and encourage innovative industry responses to current and emerging challenges .Key Outcomes And AccountabilitiesAs the Review Officer, you will:Review a variety of administrative decisions made by officers in different business units within the organisation including decisions about defective building work, licensing matters, excluded individual decisions, insurance claims and certification matters.Manage a case load of review files including conducting fresh investigations, gathering further information or evidence to assist in the review, making the review decision, preparing information notices and communicating review outcomes to parties affected by the reviewInterpret and apply the requirements of the Queensland Building and Construction Commission Act 1991, Queensland Building and Construction Commission Regulation 2003, Insurance Policy Conditions, Building Act 1975 and other legislation and policies.Prepare reports and statements for administrative review proceedings, to give evidence before the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) and to assist QCAT where a review decision is appealed to QCAT.Identify opportunities to improve administrative decision making processes and to assist in the development, implementation and review of terms of cover, policies, procedures and systems.Provide exceptional customer service to all staff of the Commission and its external customers.Assist with preparing responses to ministerial, Right to Information and legal requests for information about active and closed internal review cases.Why join QBCC?Generous 12.75% superannuation contribution with the option to salary sacrificeAccess to leave entitlements as well as accural of flex timeOpportunities for career development, training and mentoringA friendly, collaborative and supportive workplace cultureFitness PassportHow To ApplyTo apply for this exciting opportunity, please submit your resume, cover letter and a written statement (maximum 2 pages) on how you have demonstrated the capabilities outlined in the Candidate Attribute section of the position description.Occupational group Administration
