Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Risk Director to lead the company’s risk management framework and ensure alignment with regulatory expectations and enterprise objectives. Reporting to the CEO, the Risk Director will be instrumental in shaping risk culture, overseeing internal risk assessments, and supporting decision-making at the executive level. Key Responsibilities: Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the enterprise risk management (ERM) framework. Oversee the identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting of key risks across underwriting, operations, reinsurance, investment, and emerging areas.
Ensure compliance with Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) risk-related requirements, including regulatory filings, BSCR modeling, and ORSA processes. Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, finance, and compliance teams to embed risk-aware practices across the organisation. Support capital adequacy planning, stress testing, and risk appetite articulation. Present risk insights and reports to senior management, board committees, and regulators. Maintain current knowledge of global insurance trends, market conditions, and regulatory developments impacting the specialty insurance sector. Candidate Requirements: Minimum 10 years of experience in risk management within the (re)insurance sector, preferably in specialty insurance. Strong familiarity with Bermuda regulatory environment (e. g.
, BMA, BSCR, ORSA). Proven leadership skills with experience influencing stakeholders at board and executive levels. Deep understanding of underwriting and capital risk, as well as operational and strategic risk dimensions. Professional qualifications (e. g. , CFA, FRM, ACII, CPA, or actuarial designation) are advantageous. Excellent analytical and communication skills.
