About This Location: Rivers Veterinary Urgent Care (RVUC) was established in 2021 to help fill a perceived gap in the Pittsburgh area in veterinary medicine. With the CoVID-19 pandemic, veterinarians were faced with an overwhelming insufficiency in emergency care and preventative care facilities. RVUC provides the walk-in model of scheduling, immediate access to exceptional care and flexibility. We are a female-owned and operated establishment, with the goal to further support our local community and other small businesses.
OverviewWe are seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our growing hospital to provide exceptional care to our patients! You will work alongside other skilled Vet Assistants, support our Credentialed Veterinary Technicians and DVMs in the daily flow of the hospital. Responsibilities / QualificationsPosition Skills:
Assist DVMs and credentialed veterinary technicians with appointments, prepping patients for surgery and minor procedures, surgical assisting, and pro-actively set up for any procedures or diagnostic tests Restrain animals in a safe, efficient, and caring manner Obtain accurate vitals, obtain medical histories, and/or note any changes of patient's condition to DVM Collect and prepare laboratory samples such as fecal, urine, and ear cytologiesCare and maintenance of all medical equipment including laboratory machines, surgical packs, anesthesia machines, and any other tools that are essential to daily operationsHigh quality client communication on patient updates and questions Position RequirementsHigh School diploma or GED certificate Flexible schedule including some weekend and holiday shiftsKnowledge of medical procedures and animal handlingMust possess strong communication skills, good judgment and be able to manage stressful situations, and work with others on a team respectfully Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds BenefitsPay range of $13.
