In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN has acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.
To Ensure The Achievement Of This Large-scale Project, G Mining Ventures Is Looking For An Experienced And Motivated Individual To Fill The Position OfRoad and Projects SupervisorThe Road & Projects Supervisor will play a critical role in overseeing daily field activities during the construction phase of the mine site, with a focus on coordinating teams, equipment, and subcontractors to ensure that work progresses on schedule, within budget, and according to safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate is hands-on, proactive, and adaptable, with experience in road or heavy civil construction in remote environments.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperations SupervisionSupervise and coordinate daily site activities related to road construction & maintenance, drainage, and infrastructure installation. Ensuring that all operations are carried out to the highest standard of safety. This includes complying with safety regulations, conducting safety training for staff, and fostering a culture of safety in the workplaceOversee crew performance to ensure adherence to project plans, schedules, and safety protocols. Supervise and guide the road operation team, which may include machine operators, technicians, and other employees. This involves planning work schedules, assigning tasks, and monitoring team performance.
Monitor equipment utilization and productivity; ensure routine inspections and maintenance are conducted. Enforce compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and regulations. Report on project progress, potential risks, and issues to site and project management. Participate in daily toolbox meetings and contribute to a positive, safety-first site culture. Support commissioning activities and transition from construction to operational readinessOperation SupportMaintenance and Repairs: Ensure that the equipment and machinery used in the mine are in good working order. Schedule and supervise maintenance and repair activities as needed. Budget and Costs:
Manage the mine's budget by controlling operating costs, tracking expenses, and identifying opportunities for savings. Manage contractors if required. Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of mine operations, prepare regular reports on mine performance and production, and ensure compliance with government regulations. Sustainability and Environment: Ensuring that mining operations are conducted in an environmentally responsible manner, minimizing negative impacts on the environment and adhering to sustainability regulationsQualifications/ Skills And ExperienceEducation: Technical Certificate in Mining or relatedMinimum 5 years of supervisory experience in mining, civil construction, or related field. Demonstrated experience in road construction, road maintenance, civil works. Certifications and Training:
Relevant certifications, such as safety training, are often required or highly valued. Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations is essential. Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, make effective decisions, solve complex problems, and handle emergencies.
