Job Description

About the roleYou’ll take responsibility for key parts of the control stack state estimation, sensor fusion, gait generation and whole-body control, working closely with software, electrical and mechanical teammates. You’ll iterate on real hardware in our lab, ship code to field-ready robots, and help turn solid engineering into value for people and industry. If you care about clean solutions, respectful collaboration and technology that genuinely helps, you’ll feel at home here.TasksDesign, develop, and implement advanced control algorithms for legged robotic platforms, focusing on dynamic stability, agile locomotion, and terrain adaptabilityDevelop software for real-time data processing, state estimation, and sensor fusion to support gait generation and balance controlCollaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to integrate control systems with actuators, sensors, and power systemsConduct system-level testing, tuning, and debugging of locomotion control algorithms on physical robotsOptimize performance for robust stability, energy efficiency, and responsive terrain adaptation in real-world environmentsResearch and apply state-of-the-art techniques in legged locomotion control, force/torque optimization, and predictive motion planningRequirementsWhat you bring to the tableTechnical must-havesExcellent programming skills in Python, C, and C++Minimum 3 years of experience with ROS (1/2) and Linux-based systemsProven experience integrating sensors and actuators using interfaces such as Serial, I²C, SPI, UART, and USBStrong understanding of robot kinematics, dynamics, and mathematical modeling, especially for multi-legged platformsPractical experience with model-based real-time control systems (linear control theory; experience with model predictive control is a plus)Familiarity with gait generation, inverse dynamics, and force/torque control for legged robotsBasic knowledge of machine learning for adaptive control and terrain classificationExperience in hardware-related programming (e.g., microcontroller firmware)Ability to work independently from concept to prototype and deploymentHigh degree of commitment, problem-solving skills, and ownership Your mindset & working styleYou work independently, think entrepreneurially, and carry projects through to completion, even without detailed briefs. You have startup experience or the genuine drive to dive deep, take ownership, and build something great with us.You’re not a 9-to-5 type; you have the drive and loyalty to think, shape, and grow with us.You’re team-oriented but don’t need constant guidance, you enjoy taking responsibility. You bring technical depth, an appetite for real challenges, and high quality standards.BenefitsWhat you can expectAt N Robotics we pair high standards with heart: Real impact, fast: Your code runs on real robots - not months later, but as part of short, hands-on build-test cycles.Close collaboration: Work directly with founders and senior engineers in a low-bureaucracy, high-trust environment.Modern workspace in Berlin: Fully equipped lab and shop (3D printers, CNC mills, test rigs) plus quiet focus areas.
