Berepper, South West England, TR12 7RHJob SummaryThere is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and well-motivated individual to join the Executive Team at RNAS Culdrose as a Charge Book Officer.The Charge Books Officer (CBO) is a critical role within the Communications and Information Systems (CIS) team at Culdrose, responsible for the secure management, handling and distribution of CB and as alternate custodian, cryptographic material. This role is essential in ensuring the integrity, confidentiality and availability of CB and as alternate custodian, cryptographic material assets, thereby supporting the secure communication and operations needs of the Royal Navy and its operations. Working to the Crypto Custodian, the post is also responsibility for documentary security across the Air Station.The position demands a high level of attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and an unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of security.Whilst the MOD supports hybrid working, candidates should be aware due to the nature of this role it is unsuitable for home working.Does this sound of interest to you? The Executive Department is responsible for the general organisation and administration of the Air Station, including cross departmental coordination. The CBO is an Administrative Officer, reporting to the Crypto Custodian and the Establishment Security Officer.The Post Is Responsible For The Following Key Areas:The receipt and dispatch all Classified Books.The maintenance of the Classified Books Register in accordance with Navy Command Security Regulations (NCSR) and JSP 440.Liaising with Holders, publishers and relevant stakeholders regarding the currency of publications.The maintenance of registers for issue and requisite checks of MF 102s for the station.Annually muster all holdings and assist mustering team locally when their own records are mustered.Assist in all aspects of crypto controls, utilising provided IT for all accounting procedures, undertaking the role of Crypto Custodian in their absence.Manual handling up and down a flight of stairs for receipt/dispatch of sometimes heavy items via Defence Courier Service.Conducting security inspections and crypto checks as directed by Crypto Custodian.Use and update secret electronic accounting systems; Cryptographic Operational Distribution Electronic System (CODES), Asset Configuration Management (ACM) database and Sustain Key – Key Distribution (SKKD).Deputise for the Crypto Custodian in their absence.The maintenance of the Management of the Joint Deployed Inventory (MJDI) system accounts associated with the CB Office.Act as the Documentary Security Officer (DocSyO) for the base.Provide training for CBOs and other personnel with access to classified material around the base.Completion of spot checks and MAAC inspections to maintain a strong security culture and ensure security procedures are being adhered to.Ensure the completion of Quarterly Musters of Squadron Cryptographic material in accordance with ISI 03/23.Implement the CB/Crypto elements of any relevant ISIs or audits to ensure full compliance.Regular driving of a service vehicle is required to undertake checks around the Air Station, therefore a full UK Driving Licence is required.The Classified Books Officer (CBO) is part of the Executive and Security Departments.
