Overview: We are looking to hire an experienced FTTH OSP (Outside Plant) Engineer to join our growing team!Key Goal: The FTTH OSP Engineer will be responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing the deployment of PON (Passive Optical Network) infrastructure, from initial feasibility studies through to project handover and service activation. Roles & Responsibilities: PON Network Planning & Design: Plan and design PON networks, ensuring all fiber optic deployment stages are accurately mapped and documented. Collect and analyze Geo-referenced data to aid network planning. Site Survey & Feasibility Studies:
Conduct detailed site surveys and feasibility studies to assess the viability of FTTH deployment, identifying potential challenges and opportunities. Provide accurate technical recommendations for network deployment. Infrastructure Design & Documentation: Prepare infrastructure designs including feeder cables, Fiber Distribution Terminal (FDT) locations, splitting ratios, distribution cables, Fiber Access Terminal (FAT) locations, and drop cables. Create and maintain as-built diagrams of fiber connectivity and other network elements. Bill of Quantities (BOQ): Develop detailed BOQs for all materials and resources needed for PON deployment, ensuring cost-effectiveness and resource availability. Technical Specifications:
Prepare comprehensive technical specifications for PON deployments, including fiber usage, splicing methods, and installation procedures. Define the service activation process for FTTH networks. Project Handover: Ensure successful project handover by preparing all required documentation, testing, and validation before final sign-off. Deployment & Installation: Oversee the deployment process, ensuring all activities are executed as per the approved technical specifications. Manage the installation and planning teams, coordinating closely with site engineers and project managers. Fiber Splicing & Testing: Maintain detailed records of fiber splicing and connections, ensuring all technical tests (e. g. , OTDR, power meter) are completed and documented.
Ensure network performance is tested and validated to meet industry standards. Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with site engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met within scope, schedule, and budget. Required Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in FTTH OSP network design, planning, and deployment. Hands-on experience with PON network elements, fiber splicing, and fiber optic testing tools. Strong understanding of FTTH architecture, design, and deployment methodologies. Technical Skills: Proficiency in fiber optic design tools and GIS-based mapping software.
Knowledge of OTDR, power meter, and other fiber optic testing equipment. Familiarity with fiber optic cabling, fiber connectors, splicing techniques, and fiber network components. Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a dynamic environment. Preferred Qualifications: Certifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Relevant certifications such as Fiber Optic Technician (FOA), Certified Fiber Optic Specialist (CFOS), or similar are a plus. Project Management certifications (PMP, Prince2) are advantageous. Experience with FTTH deployment in urban and rural environments.
