To help us innovate and build industry-leading AI models, we are seeking an experiencedMachine Learning Scientist with a strong mathematical and research background in diffusion models, transformerbased models, or related areas. As a key member of our research and development team, you will lead efforts to advance machine learning techniques to solve complex problems for renewable energy applications.
You will work with senior scientists and engineers from a variety of fields in the lab to identify and prioritize research plans for AI-based tools targeting specific applications in renewable energy. Your expertise in research, cutting edge AI technologies and machine learning along with your creative problem-solving skills will be essential for the team as we tackle a diverse array of challenges in a rapidly changing landscape. RWE is the third-largest producer of wind power in the world, so you will have a material impact on renewable energy production across the globe.

Alternatively, a Master’s degree with significant industry experienceDeep understanding of neural network fundamentals, including transformer-based architectures (including but not limited to LLMs), foundation models, and reinforcement learningFirm grasp on using PyTorch to design novel neural network layers, embeddings, and physics informed loss functions in large-scale modelsThorough understanding of PDEs, numerical methods, tensor calculus, linear algebra, nonlinear dynamics, applied statistics with a focus on Bayesian stats, skewed distributions, and tail end eventsExperience with multi-modal datasets and modelsExperience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCPStrong passion for innovation and keeping up-to-date with the latest research in AI methodsExceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross -functional teams and contribute to a positive team climateAdvantageous, but not a mustDomain expertise in meteorology, climate science or the energy sectorProficiency in Nvidia GPU frameworks (CUDA, cuDNN, TensorRT, NCCL) and HPC technologiesPublication record in AI conferences (e.
