Woodhouse, East Midlands (England), LE12 8WDJob SummaryThere are exciting times ahead for MOD Garats Hay as the site undergoes significant infrastructure upgrades to prepare for its future role as a training establishment for Defence. We are looking for a Health, Safety, Fire and Environmental Protection Officer to ensure that the site remains safe and compliant throughout this period of building and refurbishment works. You will play an important role in helping to set up the site for the new training establishment whilst ensuring that it remains safe for our current site users which includes a Regional Medical Centre.This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.Job DescriptionAs the site Health, Safety, Fire and Environmental Protection Officer you will hold the following roles and responsibilities:Responsible for writing, implementing and maintaining all Health and Safety and Environmental Protection policies and procedures for the site.Establishment Fire Focal Point, responsible for the Site Fire Management Plan.Occurrence Manager responsible for investigating and reporting all incidents and near misses on the Defence Unified Reporting and Lessons System.Site focal point for Equality and Diversity, Sustainability and Climate Resilience.You will lead on site Assurance and be responsible for all audits, inspections and mandated reporting on behalf of the Head of Establishment.The post has no line management responsibilities, but you will support the HoE by providing advice, deputising at meetings and providing cover for annual leave. You should have the ability to assimilate information quickly and be a good communicator both written and orally. We are looking for someone who is computer literate with sound planning and organisational skills and knowledge of Office 365. You should be able to prioritise an evolving workload and use your initiative to respond quickly to emerging issues.
