Job Description

The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, leading, and overseeing the Company’s comprehensive safety strategy across all locations. This position provides leadership in establishing and sustaining a culture of safety, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, and proactively reducing risk throughout Company operations.SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS: Provides leadership and oversight to all Company safety initiatives, committees, and cross-functional teams.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:Provide vision, leadership, and direction for the Company’s Safety programs to ensure a safe, compliant, and proactive work environment.Develop and implement strategic safety initiatives and long-term planning in alignment with Company goals.Partner with Human Resources to establish, lead, and sustain a robust Safety Committee. Define mission, set priorities, and ensure accountability.Oversee safety communications and training, including compliance with OSHA requirements for Toolbox talks, certifications, and specialized training.Ensure all safety-related software and reporting systems are maintained, effective, and leveraged to track compliance and performance metrics.Direct and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations across all facilities.Liaison to corporate safety and compliance team.Serve as Company authority on OSHA standards, compliance, inspections, and citations, providing guidance to management and staff.Oversee investigations of serious incidents and ensure timely reporting to applicable regulatory agencies (e.g., MNOSHA, MOSH, NC OSH, OSHA).Provide leadership and guidance to emergency response teams (First Response, Chemical Spill, Confined Space, etc.).Lead training initiatives for high-risk operations including mobile aerial lift, forklift, hoist operations, respirator use, confined space, and others required by law.Direct audits, inspections, and reviews of all safety programs, ensuring continuous improvement and risk mitigation.Oversee industrial hygiene programs and ensure workplace hazards are identified, controlled, and eliminated.Approve and review occupational health investigations and workplace assessments regarding air quality, illumination, respiratory protection, and hearing conservation.Develop and manage the Safety budget and allocate resources effectively across Company locations.Travel up to 20% as required to oversee and support safety programs at all sites.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Proven leadership in safety management with the ability to influence and drive cultural change across a multi-site organization.Strong strategic planning, judgment, and decision-making skills.Exceptional organizational and documentation abilities.Certified (or ability to obtain) OSHA 30, OSHA Trainer status, and other applicable certifications.Certified (or ability to obtain) as forklift trainer, mobile aerial lift trainer, and first responder (First Aid, AED, CPR).Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills with ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels.Strong organizational skills to record and maintain pertinent records.Ability to lead, manage, and mentor safety personnel.Strong business acumen and ability to balance regulatory compliance with operational efficiency.Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Five years relevant safety management experience.Computer proficiency and ability to establish proficiency in EHS software solutions.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelors or Associate Degree.Ten years relevant safety management experience.
