With that in mind, we encourage all qualified applicants to apply.Job DescriptionThe Special Projects Department is seeking to hire a Temple Facilities Assistant to be based at the Apia Samoa Temple. This is a fixed-term, full-time position for approximately one year, with a targeted start date in mid-November 2025. The successful candidate will report directly to the Temple Facilities Manager.This is an opportunity to be part of a professional organization where your skills and passions can contribute to the mission of the Church – inviting all to come unto Christ.As a Temple Facilities Assistant, you will greatly assist temple patrons to enjoy being within the House of the Lord by maintaining the Temple, ancillary buildings and the overall site to standards established by the First Presidency. This includes assisting in the operation, repair and maintenance of mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment as well as the care of fixtures, fittings, carpets, tiles and all other physical components. Duties may also include cleaning, custodial services, care of grounds and other work assigned by the Temple Facilities Manager.ResponsibilitiesPerform regular preventative maintenance schedules, repairs and modifications on equipment including:Computerized heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipmentLaundry and kitchen equipmentBaptismal water treatment systemComputer controlled lighting systemAudio visual and projector systemComputers, printers and network communicationsElectronic motor control systemsAdditional cleaning, repairs and maintenance duties during shutdown periodsDaily preparation of the temple prior to openingQualificationsCompletion of a trade certificate within the building sector plus 4 years’ related experienceMinimum 2 years facility maintenance experience and understanding of general construction, plan reading, carpentry, plumbing, welding, painting, electrical, electronics, mechanics, and wall and floor coveringsShop organization and inventory management skillsComputer literate with skills using Microsoft office products and able to quickly adapt to new programsWillingness to work flexible hours based on circumstances and needComfortable to use ladders and work at height within regulatory boundariesAbility to lift to 25kgsCurrent driver’s licencePlease note that only candidates who have legal work eligibility to hold employment in Samoa should apply.
