till December 2025The OpportunitySave the Children is implementing a multi-sectoral (WASH, Health, and Protection) program funded by GIZ in Aden and Taiz, targeting the most vulnerable populations, especially persons with disabilities (PwDs). This includes support to Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) and the provision of inclusive services across all program components. The MHPSS and Inclusion Officer will be responsible for coordinating and delivering Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) and inclusion activities across all project activities.
This includes trainings to the stakeholders and beneficiaries, capacity building of partners and communities, and ensuring that services are inclusive and accessible for people with disabilities. This role also works to strengthen community structures, raise awareness about disability rights and protection, and ensure cross-sectoral inclusion in coordination with the WASH, Health, and other teams. Key Areas Of AccountabilityProgram ImplementationProvide technical support to ensure the integration of MHPSS and disability inclusion across all components of the project. Facilitate structured MHPSS activities targeting communities, stakeholders, and other relevant audiences.
Conduct inclusive assessments to identify barriers to access for persons with disabilities (PwDs) in community services. Support gender analysis and accessibility audits, ensuring close consultation with PwDs and Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) to assess their numbers and needs in targeted locations. Plan and conduct training sessions for medical doctors and health workers on MHPSS, referral pathways, inclusive health, and hygiene promotion, with an emphasis on engaging PwDs. Extend similar support to OPDs to ensure alignment and consistency between the activities of SCI and partner organizations.
Participate in and support all meetings, workshops, and consultative sessions with internal teams, stakeholders, authorities, partners, and other beneficiaries of the project. Prepare and oversee community-based public awareness campaigns on the rights of persons with disabilities, in collaboration with other sectors and support functions. Support the assessment, procurement, and distribution of affordable assistive devicesāsuch as crutches, wheelchairs, water-carrying aids, and assistive technologiesāfor OPDs and health facilities. Support the Handicapped Care and Rehabilitation Fund (HCRF) in conducting a series of consultative workshops aimed at reviewing and updating the Yemen Disability Strategy in collaboration with relevant government ministries (MoUs).
In coordination with the Project Manager and support teams, oversee the provision of small grants to selected OPDs, enabling them to implement actions that integrate updated service mapping and capacity-building efforts within their networks. Ensure that all MHPSS and inclusion activities are accessible and appropriate, including the use of adapted tools for children and individuals with different impairments. Train and mentor community facilitators and local partners (e. g. , AOBWC, GWQ) on disability inclusion, MHPSS principles, and child safeguarding.
Collaborate with other sectors (WASH and Health) to mainstream disability inclusion and psychosocial well-being into their activities, such as inclusive hygiene promotion and accessible health messaging. Engage OPDs and community leaders in the inclusive planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities. Lead awareness-raising campaigns on mental health, disability inclusion, and protection issues. Monitoring, Reporting, and LearningEnsure proper documentation of activities using standardized tools (e. g. , session logs, referral tracking systems). Collect and analyze data disaggregated by sex, age, and disability (utilizing the Washington Group Short Set, if required).
Contribute to donor reporting by providing inputs on MHPSS and inclusion activities, including success stories and lessons learned. Conduct regular follow-up visits to intervention sites in collaboration with the field team. Coordination and RepresentationRepresent Save the Children in MHPSS and disability coordination platforms at both central and field levels, as needed. Work closely with local stakeholders and partners to promote inclusive, community-based approaches. Support coordination with authorities and other humanitarian actors to strengthen protection and inclusion interventions. GeneralDeliver results in line with approved proposals and Save the Childrenās strategic objectives.
Comply with Save the Childrenās policies and procedures, including those related to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, and equal opportunities. Ensure that the inclusion of persons with disabilities is effectively mainstreamed across WASH and Health programming, in accordance with global standards and guidance. Ensure adherence to the minimum standards of humanitarian response, including the Sphere Standards and the Red Cross Code of Conduct. Perform other duties as required and agreed with line management.

RequiredExperience & SkillsMinimum of 3 years of experience in MHPSS programming, protection, or disability inclusion. Experience delivering community-based psychosocial support activities. Strong understanding of inclusion standards and accessibility principles. Demonstrated capacity to work with OPDs, vulnerable communities, and local actors. Familiarity with case management and referral systems. Good communication, facilitation, and training skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Excellent teamwork, cultural sensitivity, and adaptability.
DesirableTraining in Psychological First Aid (PFA), CBPSS, or inclusive humanitarian action. Experience with humanitarian NGOs or development projects. Strong written and spoken English and Arabic. Knowledge of Washington Group Questions or similar tools. Strong organizational and planning skills with good communication skillsPolitically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacyThe capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.
