Aden Head OfficeRole PurposeThe MHPSS Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the provision of MHPSS support and services to vulnerable and at-risk children according to best practice standards of quality, effectiveness and do no harm. The role includes providing regular technical supervision, training, and coaching to MHPSS Officers delivering community-based and person- focused MHPSS services across multiple governorates. Additionally, the Coordinator is responsible for developing and adapting evidence-based MHPSS training and educational materials in collaboration with the PM, CP and MHPSS Advisor, ensuring their relevance to each program location.
The role also involves `overseeing the implementation of robust record-keeping systems at the field level. Key Areas Of AccountabilityProgram planning, deliverySupport the planning and implementation of community-based and person-focused MHPSS activities, in line with CO strategies and project commitmentsContribute to the development and implementation of DIPs aligned with project timelines, budgets, and indicators. Support procurement processes, prepare weekly/monthly work plans, and contribute to the preparation of cash forecasts and logistics requests related to MHPSS activities.
Coordinate with program and area managers at the field level to ensure that operational support is in place for MHPSS Officers and front-line staff. Ensure timely implementation of activities and document any delays, risks, or challenges with suggested mitigation strategiesCapacity Building And Quality AssuranceIdentify and address gaps in MHPSS knowledge and skills among MHPSS Officers and front-line facilitators. Conduct training sessions and on-the-job coaching on PFA, Basic Helping Skills, and integration of MHPSS into sectoral programmingSupport the technical planning and rollout of SCI’s -structured psychosocial support and parenting interventions (e. g.
, SC’s Home-Based -MHPSS) in line with SCI’s quality benchmarks and global standards. Support the technical planning and roll out of evidence-based, scalable psychological interventions (e. g. Self Help Plus/SH+, Early Adolescent Skills for Emotions/EASE, Problem Management Plus) in line with fidelity and quality standards. Conduct and document regular structured supervision and coaching sessions for MHPSS Officers, Assistant and front-line facilitators, ensuring the provision of high-quality, evidence-based psychosocial care to children in need.
Provide support to MHPSS Officers -for external referral of complex cases, in coordination with CP Case Management as relevant, and in line with Country Office SOPs. Oversee the implementation of a safe, confidential MHPSS record-keeping system that complements the existing Child Protection Case Management system. Collaborate with MEAL staff to oversee the field-level implementation of robust monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems for MHPSS activities, facilitating the collection and reporting of program data and outcomes (e. g. , daily functioning, satisfaction, and training effectiveness). Participate in all MEAL activities to assess MHPSS programming effectiveness and impact.
Reporting And AdministrativeCompile weekly and monthly reports detailing MHPSS activities, outputs, and any challenges or gaps identified. Ensure timely and high-quality inputs to SCI and donor reports on MHPSS activities. Maintain up-to-date documentation on assessments, trainings delivered, & referrals made. Coordinate with MEAL and data teams to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of MHPSS data collection, analysis, and reporting. Contribute to the documentation of lessons learned, success stories, and best practices in MHPSS programming. Coordination, Advocacy And NetworkingCoordinate ongoing service mapping for MHPSS services and maintain relationships with specialized and non-specialized service providers.
Facilitate referrals for specialized and non-specialized MHPSS services in coordination with internal and external actors. Maintain positive coordination and collaboration with SCI’s CP, Health, Education, and other sectoral teams to ensure integrated programming. Liaise with partners, CBOs, and relevant authorities to promote access to MHPSS services, strengthen referrals, and support case discussions. Work with MHPSS Officers to identify potential partner organizations in each field location and develop collaborative partnerships to enhance local expertise, build capacity, and improve the sustainability of MHPSS activities.
Stay up to date with evidence-based psychological interventions and advances in the field of Child and Adolescent Psychology to ensure SCI programming remains current and impactful. General: Carryout any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience -in MHPSS programme development, programme quality and/or implementationCertified trainer in scalable psychological interventions (PM+, SH+ EASE), with proven track record in supporting the roll-out of such interventionsIn-depth knowledge and understanding of global MHPSS technical guidelines and core sector standards, and their practical application in the context of Yemen. Work experience in humanitarian emergencies or protracted-conflict settings. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work within different cultural environments. Ability to work flexibly and cope with stressful workloads and limited resources. Strong organizational skills and ability to work with limited supervision.
Excellent written and verbal communication and reporting skills. Fluency in Arabic and EnglishCommitment to Save the Children values and Child Safeguarding. Understanding of confidentiality and ethical considerations in MHPSS work. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
