Mō te tūranga | About the roleBased in Paeroa Office.Lead a team of 27 delivering flood protection infrastructure across the Waihou Valley, Piako River, and Coromandel schemes.Manage long-term and annual planning to ensure effective delivery of scheme work programmes.Build and maintain strong relationships with iwi partners and stakeholders.Provide strategic advice and reporting to leadership and governance groups.Support emergency response capabilities and ensure health and safety compliance.Lead the development and execution of strategic work plans, aligning priorities with organisational goals.Drive continuous improvement and integration across scheme operations.Mō te tangata | About youProven leadership experience in infrastructure or environmental management.Skilled in stakeholder engagement, especially with iwi and community groups.Strong financial and project management capabilities.Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.Comfortable working in dynamic environments and across multiple locations.Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experienceTertiary qualification in river/catchment management, Environmental Sciences, or Civil Engineering.Minimum 10 years relevant experience.Experience in contract management and local government processes.Full NZ driver’s licence and ability to travel/stay overnight as needed.Mō te tīma | About the teamPart of the Integrated Catchment Management directorate.Supportive leadership team.Collaborative team spread across the Waikato connected by our shared work and commitment to the region with teams based in Paeroa, Kerepehi, Te Aroha, and Hamilton.Mō mātou | About usWe work hard to care for the mighty Waikato, so current and future generations will benefit from a healthy environment, strong economy, and vibrant communities.Our mahi is as diverse as the region we care for and the people who share it.
