Through a combination of individual counseling, small group sessions, and classroom guidance lessons, the counselor helps students develop critical skills in emotional regulation, empathy, and responsible decision-making. The role involves close collaboration with teachers, administrators, and families to ensure every student receives the support they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom.What You’ll Do Develop and implement classroom lessons that promote self-awareness, conflict resolution, and peer relationships Conduct individual and small group counseling to address social, emotional, and academic challenges Collaborate with teachers and administrators to support a positive and inclusive school climate Plan and coordinate schoolwide activities that align with character education and student well-being (e.g., Kindness Month, anti-bullying campaigns, service projects) Maintain clear and accurate documentation while respecting student confidentiality Communicate effectively with families and provide resources or referrals as needed Attend school functions and support community engagement initiatives Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in school counselingSkills And Experience Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Education, or related field; advanced degree preferred Previous experience working in a school setting required (3–5 years preferred) Knowledge of and experience with social-emotional learning (SEL) programming and classroom guidance Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with students, staff, and families Proficiency with technology and digital communication tools Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold the highest professional standards Must be able to work in the US without sponsorshipTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
