Build an independent, leading biotech company founded on intelligent drug design to cure the incurable. We are seeking a highly-skilled and enthusiastic Scientist - Synthetic Chemistry to join Vilya’s Chemistry team in South San Francisco. This full-time onsite position will play a key role in expanding our platform technology and advancing orally available macrocycles into the clinic.

ResponsibilitiesDesign, synthesis, purification, and characterization of high value building blocks, intermediates, and macrocyclesEvaluation and implementation of state of the art synthetic methodologies for the design and synthesis of novel chemical structuresOptimization of chemical matter for key medicinal chemistry parameters including solubility, permeability, potency, stability, and pharmacokineticsAdvancement of discovery projects through effective collaboration and communication with all members of the Vilya teamMay assist with management of CROsProvide regular progress updates to the chemistry and cross-functional research teamsEffective written communication as required for patent filings, company reports, and scientific publicationsMaintain an accurate and detailed electronic lab notebookAdherence to all safety and environmental regulationsPreferred QualificationsPhD in organic chemistry or medicinal chemistry0-5 years post-PhD experience in an academic, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical settingExpertise in the synthesis, purification, and characterization of complex organic small moleculesExpertise in organic small molecule synthetic methodology development and reaction optimizationEnthusiasm for collaboration and problem-solving across departments, including Analytical Chemistry, Biology, DMPK, and Computational ChemistryExperience with solution- and/or solid-phase peptide synthesis is preferred but not requiredImpeccable scientific integrityScientifically curious and eager to learnDesire to help build a high-functioning, collaborative chemistry teamVilya BenefitsOpportunity to work in a disruptive startup with a talented, experienced, and growing team of dedicated individuals401(k) plan with employer matching for contributionsStock optionsExcellent medical, dental, and vision coverageOpen, flexible vacation policySupport to attend professional conferences that are meaningful to your career growthAccess to onsite gymMonthly cell phone stipendCommuter and Wellness benefitsSalary Range:
