Job Description

We’re Hiring a Principal Systems Architect to Shape the Future of Climate-Health InnovationWe are seeking a Principal Systems Architect to lead the design, delivery, and long-term evolution of Halla Health, a global digital platform advancing climate-resilient self-care and inclusive health innovation. Beginning with pilots in India and scaling across Europe, Asia, and Africa, Halla Health will empower individuals to manage their health in the face of climate-related challenges and support life-sciences to discover and develop treatments that help everyone.

This is a senior leadership role for a visionary systems thinker who thrives at the intersection of technology and social impact. You will define the platform’s technical and systems architecture, guide multidisciplinary teams, and ensure the solution is robust, adaptable, and impactful in diverse, resource-constrained settings. Your leadership will influence not only the platform build but also how technology integrates with design, health systems, and local implementation strategies. OverviewAs Principal Systems Architect, you will set the strategic technical direction for Halla Health, ensuring the platform is modular, interoperable, privacy-first, and ready to scale.

This is not a hands-on coding position, but you will be expected to bring deep engineering expertise to guide decision-making, evaluate partner work, and uphold the highest standards in architecture and delivery. You will lead the global tech vision, manage partnerships with development vendors, and build internal capacity to support long-term scaling. You will also champion systems-level thinking, aligning technical solutions with real-world constraints, cultural contexts, and the urgent need for climate-resilient health innovation. Key Leadership ResponsibilitiesStrategic Systems LeadershipDefine and own the platform’s end-to-end technical and systems architecture, aligned with product, climate resilient health, and equity goals.

Build and lead a global technical team, cultivating a high-performance, mission-driven culture. Anticipate future needs, ensuring the platform can adapt to emerging technologies, geographies, and policy requirements. Architecture & InnovationDesign a modular, scalable, and interoperable architecture that can be adapted for diverse contexts. Integrate advanced capabilities such as AI/ML and NLP where they add tangible user value. Ensure technical decisions are grounded in user needs, evidence, and ethical considerations. Execution & OversightLead the delivery of the MVP and subsequent releases, balancing speed, quality, and scalability.

Oversee external development partners, ensuring work meets quality standards, is delivered on time, and aligns with strategy. Establish robust governance for technical documentation, development standards, and security compliance. Data Privacy & GovernanceChampion a privacy-first approach, ensuring compliance with relevant health data regulations. Set the architecture for secure, ethical data handling, with clear protocols for consent and access. Scaling & SustainabilityBuild systems to support sustainable scale, including local partnerships for long-term maintenance and adaptation. Prepare the platform for integration with national health systems and cross-border interoperability standards. What We’re Looking ForCore Requirements8+ years in software engineering, systems architecture, or platform development.

4+ years in senior technical leadership roles with responsibility for system-wide architecture. Proven track record in delivering large-scale, modular digital platforms—preferably in health, climate, or social impact sectors. Strong knowledge of interoperability standards, open-source frameworks, and scalable architectures. Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into real-world applications. Deep understanding of data privacy and compliance, particularly in health contexts. Skilled communicator who can bridge technical and non-technical domains. Experience working in LMIC or resource-constrained settings is a bonus. Valuable Additional ExperienceMobile-first design using React Native, Flutter, or similar frameworks. Application of ML/NLP in user-facing health tools.
