Senior/Lead Java + Search Engineer (Google Vertex AI Search for Commerce)Company: Grid DynamicsLocation: Ukraine (remote within Ukraine)English: B2Project / RoleWe are looking for a Senior Java + Search Engineer to help build and optimize modern e-commerce search platforms, integrating with Google Vertex AI Search for Commerce (VAIS:C). You will design scalable backend services, implement advanced relevance strategies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-enhanced search experiences.What You Will DoLead design and development of search and backend microservices (Spring Boot / Java)Integrate e-commerce platforms with Google Vertex AI Search (VAIS:C)Build data ingestion pipelines for product catalogs and user events (Pub/Sub, Dataflow, BigQuery)Set up merchandising rules and analytics for search relevanceDeploy services on GCP (GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud Workflows, Cloud Storage)Mentor and guide team members on architecture and best practicesMust-Have SkillsStrong Java / Spring Boot experience (Lead / Senior level)Cloud experience (preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP): GKE, BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Run)Experience with Search engines / Search services (Elasticsearch, Solr, Coveo, Bloomreach, or similar)Understanding of e-commerce / retail domainExperience with microservices architecture and high-load systemsEnglish B2 Nice-to-Have experience with Google Vertex AI Search for Commerce (VAIS:C)
