Senior Accountant

Job Title: Senior General Ledger (GL) Accountant Location: Brussels, Belgium Duration: [3–6 months] (extendable, depending on company needs) Start Date: ASAP Reporting To: Chief Accountant / Finance Manager / CFO Language Requirements: English (required), French and/or Dutch (preferred)About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced Senior General Ledger Accountant to join our client’s finance team in Brussels on an interim basis. The successful candidate will take ownership of the general ledger and month-end closing processes, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial data.You will play a key role in maintaining compliance with Belgian GAAP and IFRS, supporting the finance team through audits and reporting cycles, and contributing to process improvement initiatives. This is a hands-on role for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Ledger & AccountingManage day-to-day general ledger accounting, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.Ensure accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings.Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts and intercompany transactions.Support the preparation of statutory financial statements under Belgian GAAP / IFRS.Reporting & ComplianceAssist in the preparation of monthly management reports and financial statements.Ensure compliance with local accounting, VAT, and tax regulations.Support external and internal audits by preparing documentation and responding to audit queries.Process & Systems ImprovementIdentify and implement improvements in accounting processes and internal controls.Support the integration or optimization of ERP and financial reporting systems.Collaboration & SupportWork closely with the AP, AR, and payroll teams to ensure accurate postings.Collaborate with the finance manager and CFO on ad-hoc financial analysis and projects.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.Minimum 5 years of experience in general ledger or financial accounting roles.Solid knowledge of Belgian GAAP; experience with IFRS is an advantage.Experience working in an international or multi-entity environment preferred.Strong Excel skills and familiarity with major ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics, etc.).Fluent in English; proficiency in French and/or Dutch is a strong plus.Excellent attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to meet tight deadlines.Contract DetailsType: Interim / Freelance / ConsultantLocation: On-site in Brussels, with some flexibility for remote workCompensation: Competitive daily rate, based on experience📩 To Apply: If you would like to be considered, please contact adam.guess@vividresourcing.com
