Job TypePermanentBuild a brilliant future with HiscoxJob Spec – Senior Actuarial Pricing Analyst – Band IIWorking within the RE&ILS Actuarial team, which is part of the wider Risk Team, you will be supporting our Specialty underwriting efforts on all lines of business, especially Cyber. Our role is to facilitate the understanding and management of the Underwriting Risk we are taking on, accessing the market and individual cedant data and using it in a way to make the optimal underwriting decisions. Your role will cover a range of areas, from individual treaty pricing to development of new pricing tools, to market insights and portfolio analysis. You’ll also have opportunity to broaden your business knowledge by providing analyst support on other lines and aspects of reinsurance business.The RolePricing individual submissions and preparing reports to communicate results to underwritersKey input in the development and application of pricing models for use in all lines.Applying traditional methods and also drawing on new sources of data to best evaluate risksCalculate loss trends to ensure accurate modelling of individual accounts as well as the portfolio as a wholeDetermine and monitor the 'dials' (e.g. actual v expected loss emergence) to ensure any under-pricing is identifiedDevelopment and maintenance of RDS for your specific portfolio/ line of businessProfitability monitoring role: bridge between pricing and reservingDevelopment, maintenance and reporting of appropriate risk metrics for your specific portfolio/ line of businessSupport and enhance underwriting and risk management by the collection and reporting of relevant dataProduction of ad hoc portfolio reports, deep dives and profitability metricsProvide general reinsurance actuarial/analytical supportOur must havesExcellent mathematical and analytical skills and a demonstrated logical, numerical and structured approach to problem solvingExpertise in Microsoft Excel and other Office applicationsHigh proficiency in working with and visualizing data and databases using mediums such as SQL/Snowflake and Tableau/Power BIProficient in a coding language such as Python/R - able to implement statistical techniques and data processing/visualization to enable the building of user-friendly interfaces to drive the business forwardGood understanding (technical and commercial) of the Insurance/reinsurance spaceA driven individual and effective team player.Ability to prioritize work and manage effectively and accurately under pressure, ensuring that deadlines are met.Near/fully qualified along a recognised actuarial path Pricing Actuary title with formal qualificationNice to haveExperience in pricing (re)insuranceRelated actuarial experience such as insurance reserving, capital modelling or reinsurance analyticsHiscox Re & ILSHiscox Re & ILS is the reinsurance and insurance-linked strategy (ILS) business unit within Hiscox Group.
