An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated and organised individual to join the Office of the Deputy Secretary, First Peoples-State Relations Group, as a Senior Adviser at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.The First Peoples - State Relations Group supports an extensive program of priority work with First Peoples, by a strong understanding of self-determination to our work practices and in providing clear and robust advice to the Minister for Treaty and First Peoples, Premier, Cabinet and Senior Executives.The Office of the Deputy Secretary is responsible for coordination whole-of-group processes, including corporate governance, business and operational planning, as well as coordination for Cabinet and briefing to the Minister for Treaty and First Peoples and the Premier.Reporting to the Lead Strategic Adviser, this role plays a key part in setting the strategic direction the First Peoples - State Relations Group to support an extensive program of priority work with First Peoples. This role requires a clear understanding of operational and corporate governance requirements for the group as well as applying a strong understanding of self-determination to our work practices.The Senior Adviser will be assigned projects and processes to coordinate in addition to supporting the Deputy Secretary, First Peoples - State Relation to lead the group and represent the department. You will also be involved in stakeholder engagement, research, speech-writing, review and editing, and project management.As the Senior Adviser, you will perform a key role in providing high-quality advice and support to the Deputy Secretary, First Peoples - State Relations. You will be responsible for supporting collaboration across the Group on corporate governance, programmatic and policy deliverables and supporting the effective and efficient operations of office and the Group.The First Peoples - State Relations Group recognises the invaluable contribution of existing Aboriginal staff and is committed to promoting Aboriginal leadership as reflected in the Group's executive team.
