Architect (Residential Developer)Sector: Residential Developments (Housing, Duplexes, and Apartments)Location: South Dublin, IrelandThe OpportunityThe company are a leading residential developer and house builder based on the south-side of Dublin. They are looking to hire an Architect with a strong architectural background and past experience leading complex residential construction projects. This pivotal role involves growing, structuring, and leading the design function across their business to ensure consistent high standards and efficient delivery.This position requires significant influence across the complete project lifecycle, from site acquisition and planning through to construction and final handover.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign Management Strategy: Lead the implementation of a robust design management and coordination structure to ensure business scalability without compromising design standards or the quality of construction information.Standard Unit Types: Develop and maintain the standard library of unit types and continuously explore new typologies and designs to ensure cost efficiency and enhanced buildability.Continuous Improvement: Ensure standard design outputs are fully compliant with internal design guidelines and continually seek opportunities for process optimization.Design Coordination and Quality AssuranceDesign Interrogation: Interrogate, review, and mark-up design outputs to ensure technical compliance, constructability, and adherence to project briefs.Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all third-party design consultants are fully compliant with local planning and building regulations across Ireland and the UK.Program Management: Lead, monitor, and minute design team meetings across various projects to ensure design programs are achieved and critical milestones are met.Stakeholder Integration: Work closely with cross-functional teams (Planning, Creative, Commercial, Construction, and Sales) to ensure all departmental requirements are fully integrated into the design information.Procurement and ReportingConsultant Procurement: Work alongside pre-construction teams to lead the briefing, procurement, and appointment of suitably experienced design consultant partners.Reporting: Prepare detailed monthly reports on design progress, highlight key issues, and proactively offer solutions to ensure project program alignment across the business portfolio.Site Engagement: Attend regular site visits and internal head office meetings as required to drive design resolution and manage technical queries.Essential RequirementsExperience: Minimum of 10 years’ experience post-qualification, specifically within Architecture and/or developer-led residential housing, duplexes, and apartment projects.Qualifications: A Degree in Architecture or other relevant construction-related qualifications is essential.Technical Knowledge: Robust, current knowledge of all relevant planning and building regulations in Ireland and the UK.Design Leadership: Proven ability to lead and manage multi-disciplinary design teams and effectively audit third-party design outputs.Software Proficiency: High proficiency in architectural and design software, including CAD or Revit and InDesign.Please share a copy of your CV and a residential focused portfolio if you would be interested in this type of rolerhughes@macdonaldandcompany.com
