Every day, we enable our customers to solve the most complex and dynamic challenges to help achieve a safe and sustainable world.The RoleWe are looking for a highly skilled Senior Modeller to join the Economic Analysis team at Ricardo. The successful candidate will support the development and application of the GEM-E3 model. The role involves conducting climate risks assessments and policy impact assessments for EU and non-EU clients. Core activities include economic modelling, data analysis, and research to assess macroeconomic, distributional and regional implications of climate and energy policies (transition risk) and climate impacts (physical risk). Other topics of interest include competitiveness, investment strategies and trade dynamics.Key Responsibilities Develop and apply economic models (e.g., CGE models like GEM-E3). Collecting, structuring, and analysing large datasets related to energy, economy, and transport. Reviewing and summarising scientific, technical, and market reports to support quantitative assessments. Developing and applying economic and energy system modelling tools using GAMS, Python, and/or R. Supporting EU-funded research projects, contributing to climate policy and IPCC-related work. Developing policy recommendations and policy briefs based on modelling results. Managing your time across multiple projects with a focus on quality, organisation, and collaboration. Collaborate with other team members to deliver high-quality research. Manage EU-funded research and consultancy projects efficientlyKey Competencies And Experience MSc or higher in Engineering, Economics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related field. Experience in energy or economic systems modelling and climate policy assessment. Proven programming skills in GAMS and/or Python/R. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive and collaborative approach. Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word. Strong background in climate/environmental economics, including energy decarbonization and mitigation pathways. Excellent written and spoken English (Spanish is optional, with courses available).
