Job Title: Senior COBOL Developer / Support Engineer Location: Remote Experience: 8–10 YearsJob Description: We are seeking a Senior COBOL Developer / Support Engineer to join our team and provide expert-level production and application support for mission-critical mainframe systems. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in COBOL, mainframe technologies, and a working knowledge of Java. This role involves hands-on support, troubleshooting, and incident management aligned with ITIL standards.Key Responsibilities:Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for mainframe applications, ensuring high availability and stability.Troubleshoot and resolve complex COBOL, JCL, CICS, and database-related issues.Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring incidents and implement permanent fixes.Follow ITIL best practices for Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management.Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and operations teams to ensure smooth production operations.Utilize ITSM tools to track and manage incidents and service requests effectively.Participate in change reviews, releases, and production deployment support.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and automation where possible.Required Skills:Strong expertise in COBOL programming and mainframe technologies (JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, etc.).Working knowledge or hands-on experience with Java.Solid understanding of ITIL processes and service management best practices.Proven experience in incident, problem, and change management in enterprise environments.Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.Preferred Qualifications:ITIL certification is a plus.Experience in production support for large-scale, high-availability systems.Exposure to automation or performance optimization tools in mainframe environments.
