Senior Commercial ManagerMSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company) Limited was set up in 2002 and is the local Agency for MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company) S.A., based in Geneva. As an integral part of a strong commercial team the successful candidate will work closely with our sales director and the wider commercial team.Job DescriptionThe successful applicant will be responsible for developing and managing the commercial activity of a busy office, working closely with the commercial director and the wider commercial team, while also maintaining an operational overview and adhering to our agreed pricing policies and value added services strategy to achieve our set Trade Budgets.The key tasks for the Senior Commercial Manager are as follows:PricingPromote and maintain sea freight pricing policy in conjunction with the local commercial director and our head office.Oversee our current pricing policies, liaising with the trade managers and the internal sales team.Financial Management:Manage our approved commercial budget in conjunction with the local commercial director and our head office.Review approved commercial budgets ensuring our commercial team are on track and identify areas for improvement.Business Development:Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including existing customer portfolios alongside future key-account programs.Stay up to date with industry trends and market conditions, making recommendations for business development opportunities.Target new business accounts on all trades together with the commercial teams and global agents overseas.Attend client site visits periodically promoting our core services, added value services and consolidating and maximizing customer relationships.Attend overseas European Trade meetings throughout the year.Performance Management:Manage the local trade managers, assisting and guiding them with the management of the wider commercial team.Develop the commercial team to meet the expectations of the local management and head office.Review performance and statistic reports for the commercial director and head office.Work closely with the commercial teams in our Cork and Belfast officesThe successful Senior Commercial Manager should have the following skills:Experience in developing commercial sales processes and systems.Global international experience within the shipping industry, clients, and markets.A successful negotiator when engaging with existing and prospective clients at a global senior levelProven experience in managing and leading commercial teams.Ability to create business development plans to secure new business.Creative in developing, promoting, and delivering improvement strategies within the commercial teams.Strong leadership and communications skills to guide, manage and motivate the commercial teams.Outstanding geographical awareness.Excellent mathematical ability and understanding of currency fluctuations.First class organizational and communication skillsStrong report-writing and presentation skills, together with a familiarity with popular software packages such as Microsoft OfficeSelf-motivation to use their initiative and to innovate, when requiredAbility to work to tight deadlines.Essential Criteria:Working for a global multinational organisation in the industry.Minimum twelve years’ commercial experience within the container shipping or freight forwarding industries, with at least three years in a senior commercial management position.Familiar with and understands how to get the best results from using a CRM application.Full clean EU driving license.A bachelor’s degree or higher in a business-related discipline is desirable.What can you expect from MSC?
