We are the exclusive offshore partner for a major UK retail digital transformation programme with one of the UK’s largest supermarket chains.💼 About the ClientYou will be working with Sainsbury’s, one of the UK’s largest and most established retailers—a household name serving millions of customers every day across both online and in-store platforms.This role sits within the Data Science team, which powers advanced analytics and machine learning capabilities across Argos, Nectar, and Sainsbury’s brands, directly influencing key commercial decisions, operations, and customer experiences.📊 About the ProjectYou’ll be part of a forward-thinking Data Science team that develops models to optimize operations, enhance personalization, and improve decision-making across large-scale retail environments.The team works closely with MLOps Engineers, Data Engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure that models are production-ready, measurable, and impactful at scale.🛠️ ResponsibilitiesDevelop predictive and prescriptive models using Python (pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch).Work with MLOps Engineers to productionize models via CI/CD pipelines.Perform feature engineering and model evaluation using large-scale datasets.Partner with business stakeholders to define problem statements and measurable outcomes.Contribute to experimentation frameworks and ML reproducibility standards.Communicate model insights through data storytelling and visualization.✅ Qualifications3+ years in applied data science or machine learning.Proficient in Python, SQL, and ML frameworks (scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow).Strong understanding of statistics, experimentation, and feature engineering.Experience deploying models on AWS (SageMaker, Lambda, ECS).Familiarity with MLOps tools (MLflow, DVC, Airflow) preferred.💬 Soft SkillsStrong analytical mindset with curiosity to explore and solve complex problems.Excellent communication and data storytelling abilities.Comfortable working cross-functionally with engineers, analysts, and product teams in an Agile environment.🌟 Why JoinYou’ll collaborate with a highly skilled, data-driven team building large-scale ML solutions for one of the UK’s most recognized retail brands.
