These models support a variety of domains, with an emphasis on credit and fraud risk but also customer experience, marketing, and more.Your work will focus on pushing the next frontier of capabilities at Zip, leveraging new rich data sources. This is a green field opportunity to experiment and build for the future of the company, leveraging both traditional ML and new AI-based methodologies to build customer-facing and backend functionalities. This is an opportunity to build high-impact and high-visibility models.Interesting problems you’ll get to solveBuild new AI/ML models leveraging bank transaction data to enable customer experiences and to support core business objectivesRapidly experiment, build, and iterate on solutions, providing realistic proofs of concept that can be tested and refined. Solutions include, but are not limited to, customer-focused financial insights, portfolio forecasting, risk and underwriting, marketing, and recommender systemsProvide guidance on test design and data collection to maximize the future success of your modelsEmploy the latest GenAI techniques where appropriate to maximize performance and build for the future Work closely with the Data and Machine Learning Engineering teams for production considerations to ensure data availability and model scalabilityClearly communicate modeling objectives, assumptions, limitations, and performance considerations to stakeholders across the businessExplore and validate data sources, including ad hoc profiling and integrity checks, to support modeling effortsEnsure that work is reproducible with clear, maintainable codeWork cross-functionally to gather insights and requirements from multiple stakeholders including Product, Risk, and EngineeringWhat You’ll Bring To The TeamAdvanced degree (PhD preferred) in a quantitative field (e.g., Mathematics, Physics, Social Science, Computer Science)5+ years of experience in Data Science (can include PhD work)2+ years of experience working with data relevant to Financial ServicesSelf-starter mentality with strong problem-solving and research skills; able to work independently to drive solutionsSolid grasp of the fundamentals of probability, statistics, and applied research methodsExperience working with cashflow data (e.g., Plaid, MX, Finicity) highly preferredProficiency in Python and SQL; hands-on experience with Spark/PySpark a plus Experience with Neural Networks, LLMs, GenAI Experience with credit and/or fraud risk a plusFamiliarity with version control systems such as GitAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environmentWhat You’ll Get In ReturnZip is a place where you’ll get out what you put in. The actual base salary will be determined by various individualized factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, location, internal equity, as well as other objective business considerations.The annual base Pay Range for this position is $132,000 -160,000. This range reflects our US national compensation (USN).
