Senior Database Administrator

OverviewThe S2 Global, an OSI Systems company, Senior Database Administrator (DBA) job will be focused on managing and optimizing complex database systems, ensuring data integrity, security, and performance. The DBA will provide technical leadership, mentor other DBAs, and contribute to database architecture and infrastructure. Key responsibilities include designing, implementing, and maintaining database environments, as well as troubleshooting and resolving issues.Key Criteria Database Design and Implementation:Designing and implementing complex database schemas, data models, and indexing strategies. Performance Optimization:Monitoring, tuning, and optimizing database performance to ensure efficient data access and retrieval. Security Management:Implementing and maintaining database security policies and procedures, including access controls and data encryption. Backup and Recovery:Developing and executing backup and recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:Diagnosing and resolving complex database issues, including performance bottlenecks and security vulnerabilities. Guidance and Mentoring: Providing guidance, direction, and mentoring to junior DBAs and other technical staff. Technical Leadership:Participating in database architecture design, technology selection, and vendor evaluation. Documentation:Developing and maintaining database documentation, metadata, and data dictionaries. Responsibilities Participate in project planning and execution Work in a dynamic global agile environment. Collaborate with other IT teams Present database health and status. Stay current with the latest database technologies and trends Be competent in Cloud DB systems and NOSQL such as MongoDB. Contribute to the development of database standards and procedures Exemplify continuing education and certifications in the field. Build data migration strategy and conversion plan. Create and develop data migration scripts. Work with customer to review and verify data mapping. Conduct data migration activity from different sources. Install, configure, upgrade, migrate database software and assist other teams in installing database related software on servers and desktops. Database conversions and data mapping assistance. QualificationsSkills and Qualifications: Extensive experience: with database management systems (DBMS), such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and possibly Oracle or MySQL. Strong understanding: of database architecture, data modeling, and schema design. Proficiency: in SQL and scripting languages. Knowledge: of database security best practices, encryption, and data governance policies. Experience: with performance tuning, optimization, and capacity planning. Ability: to troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues. Excellent: communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical staff.
