UgandaSenior driverOrganizationInsieme si puòPosted 28 Nov 2025 Closing date 13 Dec 2025Terms of Reference – Senior driverAID Code: 013244/10/5Position Title: Senior driverLocation: KampalaContract Type: Fixed-term, full-timeDuration: 12 months, renewable subject to project fundingReports to: Project Manager / Logistician About the project: This position is part of a project funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), AID Code: 013244/10/5, aimed at supporting sustainable agricultural development in Uganda. The project focuses on enhancing the productivity and sustainability of vanilla cultivation among smallholder farmers. Position OverviewThe Driver will provide safe and reliable transportation for project staff, materials, and equipment. The role ensures compliance with local traffic regulations, vehicle maintenance schedules, and supports project logistics and operational activities. Key ResponsibilitiesSafely transport project staff, partners, and visitors to project sites and official appointments.Ensure proper maintenance, cleanliness, and servicing of project vehicles.Plan daily routes to optimize time, fuel, and safety.Keep accurate logbooks of vehicle usage, fuel consumption, and maintenance records.Support logistical activities such as loading/unloading project materials and equipment.Ensure compliance with local traffic laws and organizational safety procedures.Report any accidents, vehicle malfunctions, or incidents promptly to the supervisor.Occasionally support administrative tasks related to transport and logistics. DeliverablesSafe and timely transport for all assigned trips.Accurate and up-to-date vehicle logbooks and maintenance records.Reports on any incidents, vehicle repairs, or operational challenges.Support to logistics team in field operations as required. Required QualificationsValid Uganda driving license (class appropriate for project vehicles).Minimum 5 years of professional driving experience.Good knowledge of local roads, routes, and traffic regulations.Experience in the non-profit / development sector is desirable.Fluency in English (spoken); knowledge of local languages is an advantage.Clean driving record and adherence to safety regulations. Skills and CompetenciesSafe and defensive driving skills.Punctuality, reliability, and professionalism.Ability to perform minor vehicle maintenance checks.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Flexibility to work in remote areas and adapt to changing schedules.Commitment to organizational policies including PSEAH, anti-corruption, and safety procedures.
