You’ll play a key role in shaping ground models, leading geotechnical investigations (both in office and in the field), mapping complex geological terrain, and delivering design solutions that support infrastructure, energy, water and transport projects across New Zealand and beyond.This role is ideal for someone who thrives on geological complexity, working within and across multi-disciplinary teams, enjoys mentoring others, and is ready to take ownership of project delivery.You will be responsible for Leading and undertaking geological and geotechnical investigations, from feasibility through to construction Developing ground models and interpreting site conditions to inform design and risk assessments Undertaking design and analysis of geotechnical engineering solutions Delivering high-quality reports and sketches/drawings that meet professional standards Mentoring junior team members and contributing to technical development across the team Managing and delivering projects, balancing technical excellence with client expectations Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and clients to develop practical, innovative solutions Our TGE team works on a variety of interesting project from small local assessments and design, through to large globally significant scale projects. Our highly capable team will integrate and develop your skills to work across a wide range of technical topics including, ground investigation techniques, earthworks design, seismic design, slope stability, foundation and retaining wall design, numerical modelling, earthworks logistics, tunnelling and much more.Here's what you'll needA degree in Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field (BSc, MSc, MEng, etc.) 5–12 years of relevant experience, ideally with significant time spent in New Zealand Strong technical skills in geological interpretation and geotechnical design Proven ability to lead field investigations and translate findings into design Commitment to professional development (CPEng or PEngGeol pathway) Experience managing projects and/or being a technical discipline lead for the geotechnical elements of a project/tender Excellent communication and relationship-building skills A collaborative, proactive mindset with a focus on quality and client satisfaction People are Jacobs’ greatest asset, and we offer a competitive package to retain and attract the best talent.
