Position No. 1030Permanent Full-timeBand 6 - $89,780 - $97,724 per annum plus 12% statutory superannuationAn exciting opportunity is available for a dedicated and self-motivated professional to join our Governance team in the permanent full-time position of Senior Governance & Reporting Officer.The Senior Governance and Reporting Officer is responsible for delivering high-level governance and reporting services across the organisation, providing advice on risk management, legislative compliance, policy development, and corporate governance. The role supervises the Governance Officer, requiring well-developed people management skills to guide, support, and oversee the delivery of governance activities.As The Senior Governance And Reporting Officer You WillAssist the Coordinator Governance and Strategy to process and positively influence the quality and implementation of corporate reporting, good governance practices and legislative compliance throughout the organisation.Assist the Coordinator Governance and Strategy to coordinate the major operational activities of the Governance team.Facilitate the development and review of legislative requirements impacting the organisation's governance and risk functions.Prepare reports to Council to meet legislative obligations, such as making and reviewing delegations, reviewing and amending Council policies, adopting strategic documents, outlining legislative changes and their impact on Council operations and providing draft documents for consultation, where required.Consult with key stakeholders in developing, managing, and reviewing corporate databases and registers relating to governance and policyWorking with the Governance Office to deliver efficient governance services that support the effective conduct of council meetings.By Joining Us, You'll EnjoyWorkplace flexibility, including the option to work from home several days per week.Flexible hours and ability to purchase additional leave to help you balance work and life commitments.The lifestyle benefits of living and working in a welcoming regional community.Be secure in this permanent, full-time role, as part of our friendly and knowledgeable Governance team.About YouYou are an experienced governance professional with a strong background within local government or the broader public sector. You bring high-level organisational skills, a sharp eye for detail, and a commitment to accuracy in everything you do. Your deep understanding of governance frameworks enables you to embed risk awareness into operational decision-making and day-to-day activities.You're proactive, solutions-focused, and take pride in delivering high-quality service. You have a strong grasp of reporting requirements and are confident in preparing clear, insightful reports that support transparency, compliance, and informed decision-making. Your communication skills are clear and confident, allowing you to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organisation. You thrive in dynamic environments and are passionate about making a positive impact across the organisation.Key Selection CriteriaApplicants Must Address The Following Criteria In Their ApplicationDegree or Diploma qualification in Business or equivalent with some subsequent relevant Governance experience OR alternatively lesser formal qualification with substantial relevant experience in Governance in the Local Government or relevant public sector.Demonstrated understanding of the Local Government Act 2020, with the ability to interpret and apply its provisions in a practical and advisory capacity.Ability to undertake and coordinate activities, procedures and documentation required to achieve good governance practices across an organisation.Demonstrated ability to manage timely and relevant oral, written and web-based communications including the preparation of reports, agendas, and minutes.Significant experience of IT systems such as report generation, customer service request systems, electronic document management and the ability to provide training to other staff on these systems.
