Since 2003, IDE has grown over 100 medical technology businesses and realised over 500 projects across the medical technology landscape, including diagnostics, drug delivery, respiratory care, radiology, radiotherapy, surgical tools and equipment, wearable therapeutic, and diagnostic monitoring devices.The Purpose of the Senior Industrial Designer role is toEnd to end product development from research and discovery, concept creation and renderings, 3D modelling, detailed design and development, human factors research and compliance, new product implementation and manufactureResearch and engagement in emerging digital technology and user experienceCommunicate imaginative thought processes and idea generationLiaise with internal and external stakeholders to manage project outcomesCoach and mentor other team membersDesired Skills and ExperienceA demonstrated ability to apply original thought in solving open problems by utilising a methodical and logical approach to identify the root cause of an issue, developing a design direction and vision, and delivering solutions that are fresh and novel (Front End)Advanced in creating user insights/ needs by applying design methodologies and translate them into product requirements & concepts ‘Expert ability in producing designs that are sophisticated, well thought out in function, form & visualisations that excite & set a strong product visionHighly advanced visual communication skills for communicating concepts, ideas, analysis, issues, etc. clearly via sketches, graphs, software generated photo realistic images, or combination thereof, including an ability to define the context of the image, the placement and composition of the image(s) in order to best highlight the design intentA demonstrated ability to carry out and/or manage user/stakeholder/market research, and an ability to understand, interpret and utilise results to produce great designProven product development skills and experience from concept right through to deliveryAbility to communicate design approach from requirements through to executionKnowledge of and ability to apply a wide range of prototyping techniques and technologiesProven ability to apply project management techniques and principlesExperience in designing dynamic and static systems integrating mechanical, electronic and software elements·Experience collaborating on problems within a multi-disciplinary R&D environmentA deep understanding of designing for manufacturing processes: injection moulding, sheet metal fabrication, compression moulding, elastomers, machiningA deep understanding of complexities associated with integrating electronic components and sub systemsUnderstanding of new product development under design controls as specified by a Quality Management System (ISO9001, ISO13485, GMP or similar)An ability to produce high quality technical documents that are credible, easy to read with a clear layout, consistent formatting, correct spelling and grammarA desire to mentor and coach young designers and engineers to develop their skills as new product developersComputer Skills (required): Microsoft Office suite (inc Powerpoint & Project), CAD software (preferably Solidworks and/or Creo/Pro-e), Adobe Suite.If you are ready and have the right skills, experience, and most importantly, attitude, then a role with a truly unique group of people, passionate about using design and entrepreneurship to create new businesses awaits.
