Position: Senior Internal Communications SpecialistPosition location: Irving, Texas (TX)Council website: https://www.scouting.org/careersAPPLY NOWPosition OverviewScouting America’s Marketing and Communications team is looking for a passionate and strategic Senior Internal Communications Specialist to help shape and deliver compelling internal communications that inform, engage, and inspire our staff and volunteers across all levels and locations.In this role, you’ll play a key role in protecting and promoting the Scouting brand by developing and executing communication strategies that support our mission, vision, and values. A master storyteller and strategic communicator, the specialist collaborates across departments to research, craft, and deliver clear, concise, and impactful messages that resonate with diverse audiences. The goal is to foster a culture of transparency, alignment, and motivation—empowering employees and volunteers to connect with the mission of Scouting America. The ideal candidate will have experience in video editing and experience using various internal communication channels (e.g., intranet). The Senior Internal Communications Specialist reports to the Director, Corporate Communications.ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement, and manage comprehensive internal communication strategies and plans aligned with company goals and initiatives.Collaborate with Marketing, Human Resources, leadership, and various departments to identify communication needs and develop effective solutions.Proactively identify communication opportunities to enhance employee and volunteer engagement and understanding.Write, edit, and produce high-quality internal communications content, including but not limited to company-wide announcements, newsletters, intranet articles, executive communications, presentations, and videos.Ensure all communications are consistent in tone, voice, and brand messaging.Design, manage and maintain internal communication channels.Support senior leadership in crafting and delivering key messages to employees.Develop compelling executive communications, including talking points, speeches, and presentations.Provide strategic counsel to leaders on communication best practices.Contribute to initiatives that foster a positive and informed employee culture.Identify opportunities to enhance employee engagement through effective communication and event management.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.CompetenciesKnowledge of: Principles, techniques, and objectives of internal communications; strategic communications planning; management practices and principles; journalistic writing and editing techniques; standard office equipment and software used for electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentations.Skill in: Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with Scouting America staff and volunteers; communicating effectively both verbally and in writing; researching, preparing, coordinating, and disseminating information using appropriate standard journalistic style; providing guidance and advice to others regarding effective internal communications and responses.Ability to: Manage stress, adapt, manage work, and maintain energy.EducationBachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in communications, journalism or related field.Qualifications5 years of communications experience with at least 3 years of experience in internal communications focus required.Must pass a criminal history background check.Any work-related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above-specified education and experience requirements.BenefitsScouting America is an equal-opportunity employer.
