Job Description
We are looking for a (Senior) Legal Counsel, APAC to lead our non-US legal efforts across the APAC region like markets: HK, China, Korea, Japan etc. The (Senior) Legal Counsel, APAC provides the company with effective advice on company strategies and their implementation, manages the international legal function in their region, collaborates on corporate strategic and tactical legal initiatives, and obtains and oversees the work of outside counsel. The (Senior) Legal Counsel, APAC is directly involved in complex business transactions in negotiating critical contracts and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements across geographies.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDraft, review, and negotiate contracts for complex commercial transactions, including brand partner contracts, vendor agreements, and non-disclosure agreements in various international locations.Manage compliance of overseas regulatory programs including anti-corruption, anti-bribery, selective distribution, import/export, and data privacy.Advise on international legal entities and setup of new international entities.Find creative solutions in negotiations to address impasses and close deals.Advise internal business clients on company policies, negotiation strategy, and legal issues and risks.Advise on international implications of prospective M&A or other transactions.Coordinate and collaborate with colleagues from other teams including finance, operations, IT, and brand management.Exercise sound judgement when negotiating key business and legal terms that balances business objectives and legal risks.Assist on other legal department projects as needed.QualificationsLaw degree from top program.Qualification to practice as a solicitor or barrister in Hong Kong or China.Familiarity with both Hong Kong and mainland China law and court systems.6+ more years of demonstrated success in a commercial legal role in either a law firm or in-house environment.Significant transactional legal experience.Good command of Mandarin and EnglishDedication to ethical and honest practice of law.Demonstrated ability to pick things up quickly and work well in a fast-paced environment.Ability to work collaboratively and without ego.Sound judgement and the ability to balance speed and depth.Commitment to internal and external client service, even in tough negotiations.Enjoy finding creative solutions.Ability to work independently but knowing when to ask for help or a second opinion.Preferred QualificationsAdvising on international legal entities and setup of new international entities.Experience at a top international law firm.Exposure to or familiarity with the one or more of the following areas of law: international trade, import/export, anti-corruption/anti-bribery, competition, privacy, or data protection.Experience with cost-effective management of outside legal resources.What is Pattern about?At Pattern, we areData Fanatics: Our edge is always found in the dataPartner Obsessed: We put our partners firstTeam of Doers: We have a bias for actionGame Changers: We encourage innovationWhy should I work at Pattern?Pattern offers big opportunities to make a difference in the ecommerce accelerator industry!
