Role overview:Match Group and its portfolio of brands in Japan, including the leading dating and matrimony app Pairs, is seeking a public policy professional to lead our engagement with policymakers, regulators, and stakeholders in Japan and across APAC. This role is central in advancing our policy priorities, strengthening institutional relationships, and fostering a regulatory environment that supports innovation, user safety, and responsible growth. The ideal candidate will be a strategic, English-Japanese bilingual professional with a proven record of working with Japanese political and regulatory institutions. The position also requires close collaboration with our global Communications & Policy team and cross-functional internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and consistency.Key responsibilities:Develop and implement government relations strategies to advance Match Group’s business and policy objectives in JapanMonitor and analyze legislative, regulatory, and political developments impacting Match Group and its leading brands such as PairsBuild and maintain strong relationships with policymakers, regulators, industry associations, and civil societyRepresent Match Group’s positions directly with national and local stakeholders, as well as through coalitions and trade associationsFacilitate high-level meetings between company executives and government or industry leadersDesign and execute advocacy campaigns and programs with various stakeholders, including public sector officials, NGOs, and aligned industriesDevelop and cultivate a network of trusted third-party validators and advocates to amplify and advance advocacy positions across key audiencesPartner with internal teams (Business, Legal, Communications, Safety) and external consultants to ensure coordinated, impactful policy advocacyRepresent Match Group at industry events, policy forums, and in coalitions to enhance the company’s profile as a trusted partnerContribute to the development of policy positions, white papers, and consultation responses on key issues relevant to JapanWe could be a match if:You are motivated by Match Group’s mission to create meaningful connections for people around the worldYou have a degree in law, policy, or other relevant disciplineYou have a minimum of 8 years of experience in government relations, public affairs, or public policyYou have built relationships within Japanese government ministries, regulatory agencies, and industry bodiesYou bring a deep understanding of Japanese legislative and regulatory processes, particularly in technology, consumer protection, and digital policyYou are able to demonstrate success in shaping policy outcomes and managing advocacy campaignsYou’re a Japanese speaker, and fluent in English – proficiency in Korean is a plus.
