Today, Mercari Group is made up of multiple subsidiary businesses including logistics, B2C platform, blockchain, and sports team management.About Mercari India Established in Bangalore in 2022, Mercari India serves as a crucial technology hub for the Mercari Group. Leveraging the rich and diverse tech talent in India, we primarily collaborate closely with our development hub in Japan to drive engineering development for Mercari's applications. Having grown to an organization of approximately 80 members over about three years since its inception, Mercari India aims to evolve into an even stronger engineering organization that spearheads technological innovation for the entire group. This will be achieved by further enhancing our engineering capabilities and promoting AI initiatives that reflect India's cutting-edge technology and knowledge.RequirementsWork ResponsibilitiesThe Product Management team within GCC (Global Capability Center) at Mercari plays a critical role in transforming how we support our users across markets. This team builds tools and customer experiences that are efficient, data-driven, and scalable. As the Manager of the GCC Product team, you will lead a small team of PMs while directly contributing to product development. You’ll be responsible for guiding the team’s roadmap, driving product quality, and ensuring strong cross-functional alignment and ownership. As the functional head of Product for GCC, you will shape vision, structure, and expansion strategy.What you will doManage and mentor a team of Product Managers focused on Mercari’s products and servicesDefine the vision and roadmap for the GCC’s product function, aligning with Mercari’s global strategyLead execution across multiple cross-functional teams including engineering, design, operations, and dataDrive structured prioritization frameworks to balance efficiency gains with user satisfactionPartner with senior stakeholders to continuously identify areas of impact and growth for GCCEstablish clear goals, KPIs, and execution plans across initiativesSupport hiring, onboarding, and capability development for the growing PM functionBold ChallengesBuild the GCC product development and governance practices from the ground up while maintaining delivery velocityLay the foundations of a scalable product team and governance model with the aim to support Mecari’s future growthNavigate ambiguity and complex operational environments to identify high-leverage product betsWork across time zones, cultures, and languages to deliver a consistent customer experience at scaleTransition from a player-coach role into eventual full ownership of the GCC Product functionRequired ExperienceStrong alignment with Mercari’s mission and values13 + years of total experience, with at least 5 years in product management5 + year of people management experience or significant informal mentorship responsibilityProven track record of shipping complex C2C, B2C or internal-facing products in fast-paced environmentsExperience working closely with engineering, design, and operations teamsSolid understanding of agile methodologies and iterative product deliveryStrong communication and stakeholder alignment skills in a matrixed environmentPreferred ExperienceExperience building internal tools, customer service platforms, or operational systemsExposure to e-commerce businessesExperience working in or with Japanese companies or remote-first global teamsComfort working in multilingual settings or with international stakeholdersPrior involvement in setting up product functions or scaling early product teamsBusiness-level proficiency in Japanese.Language RequirementsEnglish: Business LevelJapanese: Conversational (Nice to have)Employment StatusFull-timeOfficeBangaloreHybrid workstyleWe believe in high performance and professionalism.
