Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.Role SummaryAs a Senior Manager of Software Engineering, you will lead a new team in Sweden to develop the next generation of vehicle access systems, moving away from traditional key fobs to a seamless mobile and wearable-centric experience. You will drive innovation across the entire software stack, from low-level hardware integration to cloud and mobile interactions. This role is located in Sweden and reports directly to a Director of Engineering.ResponsibilitiesArchitect, design, and lead the development of mission-critical systems for vehicle access, focusing on new features, performance, and security.Define and drive the hardware and software systems architecture for vehicle access on upcoming vehicle platforms.Guide new features from initial ideas through R&D, architectural design, execution, and mass production.Act as a technical leader, resolving complex dependencies and collaborating with other engineering teams.Build, mentor, and sustain a high-performing engineering team through effective hiring, coaching, and performance management.Own new features and concepts end-to-end, guiding them from initial ideas through R&D, architectural design, execution, and hardening for mass production. You drive and own critical KPIs and OKRs for the broader business.Champion best practices and set a high standard for technical excellence across the team and organization.Translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and manage expectations.Performs other duties as required or assigned within the scope of the position.QualificationsA Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.8+ years of software engineering and/or leadership experience.Proven track record of architecting and leading complex, embedded systems projects from concept to production.Experience with vehicle access systems or similar security-focused embedded systems.Strong sense of product ownership and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.Experience with low-power wireless protocols like BLE, UWB, and NFC is preferred.Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python for automation is a plus.Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and influence direction across multiple teams.Equal OpportunityRivian is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local fair employment practices laws.
