Job Description
We’re hiring a Mechanical & Aerodynamics Engineer to lead the design of ultra-high-performance UAV structures — engineered for interception agility, >400 km/h velocity, and real-world deployment. You’ll work across fuselage shaping, CFD, rotor/propeller optimization, and structural load modeling to push both efficiency and maneuverability to the limit. From stealthy control surfaces to high-thrust propulsion layouts, this is a rare opportunity to own every curve, spar, and fin that makes a UAV mission-ready at speed.TasksDesign aerodynamic fuselages, struts, and flight surfaces for high-speed UAVsUse CFD tools (XFOIL, OpenFOAM) to optimize drag, lift, and flow stabilityModel and simulate rotor and propeller configurations for maximum thrust and efficiencyConduct FEA on composite structures under mission-specific flight loadsIntegrate payloads (ISR, kinetic) with minimal aero disruptionCollaborate with flight software and controls teams to co-design for maneuverabilityPrototype, test, and iterate with fast DfM cycles in the lab and airfieldRequirements6+ years in aerospace, automotive aero, or high-performance UAV mechanical designExpert in aerodynamic modeling and CFD tools (OpenFOAM, XFOIL, ANSYS Fluent, etc.)Experience with composite design, fabrication methods, and load analysisFamiliarity with rotor/propeller modeling, including airfoil selection and blade designProficient in CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA) and FEA packages (Ansys, Fusion, Abaqus)Strong understanding of high-speed flight dynamics and aero-structural couplingBonus Points For:Experience with missile-class UAVs or supersonic design constraintsPrior work integrating weapons or ISR payloads into aerodynamic platformsBackground in airframe stealth, radar cross-section shaping, or thermal signature controlRC/hobbyist background in racing drones or DIY aerospace projectsBenefitsDesign cutting-edge UAV platforms that actually fly — and winCollaborate with autonomy, controls, and propulsion teams for holistic impactWork in a dedicated aerospace R&D facility at Berlin TXLCompetitive salary + meaningful equityFull-time, on-site role with rapid design–test–iterate cyclesWho You AreYou know airflow like others know software. You’re obsessed with performance, drag curves, and structural limits — but grounded in reality. Whether you're modeling the perfect strut shape or tuning a prop blade by hand, you’re building machines that cut through air with purpose.Join UsIf you’re ready to build the impossible, we want to hear from you.Apply now and let’s build the future of autonomy.
