Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of advanced mechanical systems for our autonomous drones and robotics platforms. This role is ideal for a mechanical engineer who is passionate about robotics and wants to make a real-world impact. You'll be involved from concept through production, collaborating on the mechanical architecture and ensuring high-performance, reliable, and manufacturable hardware solutions. The challenges that you will be involved in range from designing enclosures for our avionics devices to designing entire drone prototypes.Responsibilities and DutiesCollaborate on the design, development, and optimization of mechanical systems for aerial, ground and maritime robotic platformsOwn mechanical designs from early-stage concept development through large scale manufacturingGenerate and review detailed CAD models, 2D drawings, tolerance analyses, and mechanical simulations (thermal, structural, vibration)Select and integrate components with multidisciplinary teams (electrical, software, systems)Validate mechanical designs under real-world and lab environmentsWork with manufacturing teams and suppliers to ensure design for manufacturability (DFM), cost-efficiency, and production scalabilityDocument and communicate technical findings, test results, and project updates across internal and external stakeholdersQualifications and SkillsBachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field5+ years of industry experience in mechanical design, preferably in robotics, drones, aerospace, or high-performance mechatronic systemsProficiency with CAD tools and PDM/PLM systems, preferably Onshape or SolidworksStrong experience in mechanical design fundamentals: materials, manufacturing processes, thermal management, structural analysis, and kinematicsHands-on experience with prototyping, assembly, and mechanical testingFamiliarity with design for environmental constraints (IP rating, vibration, temperature, etc.) typical in drone and aerospace environmentsExperience collaborating in cross-functional hardware/software teamsExcellent problem-solving, communication (English), and project management skillsEU/CH citizenship or existing right to work in the EU requiredThe ability to fly a drone is a plusBenefits Flexible working hoursStock OptionsGenerous holiday allowanceCompany pension plan Car parking Enhanced maternity & paternity leaveMental health and wellbeing supportLearning and development opportunitiesAbout AuterionWe are building the leading software platform for AI-powered autonomous systems for enterprise and government customers.
