This role demands strong skills to lead product development, ensuring a seamless transition to volume production.Job ResponsibilitiesUndertake component and system level design, analysis, and validation.Innovate conceptual layouts, prototype packaging, and design fixtures and tooling.Drive mechanical design of sophisticated laser systems.Implement design strategies for quality (DFQ) and manufacturability (DFM).Conduct design verification testing (DVT).Develop lean and zero-defect manufacturing processes.Supervise the qualification phase and facilitate the transfer of new products and components to our production facility in Thailand.Build work instructions for multilingual manufacturing sites.Collaborate within multifunctional teams, working closely with development partners and external service providers.Success Indicators:Strong mechanical design skills, emphasizing quality and manufacturability.Outstanding analytical skills and problem-solving ability.Outstanding teamwork and interpersonal skills.Adaptability to multitasking in a fast-paced environment.Creative problem-solving foresight, coupled with a proven grasp of project management.Dedicated to rapid hardware design and adhering to mechanical engineering standard processes.Minimum RequirementsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 2+ years of validated industrial development experience.Proficiency in CAD tools for 3D design and 2D drawing creation (SolidWorks preferred).Familiarity with PDM-PLM (SW PDM-Agile preferred).Application of mechanical design standards (ISO, ANSI) and GD&T best practices to mechanical drawing specifications.Willingness to travel internationally (up to 10-15%) to assess vendors and collaborate with design and manufacturing teams.Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.Proven understanding of various production methods and materials selection.High integrity, work ethic, responsiveness, and a dedication to continuous improvement.Additional Desired ExperienceMaster's degree in Mechanical Engineering.Exposure to manufacturing processes. Proficiency in thermal and structural analysis using Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS preferred), including design and tolerance analysis.Experience in Test & Reliability engineering (HALT/HASS).Conduct environmental stability tests (temperature cycles, shock, vibration) at the component, module, and system levels.Familiarity with fiber optics and/or opto-mechanical design for commercial laser productsWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
