Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer Location: Waynesboro, Georgia 30830 Duration: 3 Years Experience Required: 20+ years of related experience Education: Accredited Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical EngineeringJob Responsibilities:Perform mechanical engineering designs on small and medium retrofit, environmental, and new generation projects.Lead in conducting mechanical design activities including pipe sizing and routing, material selection, pipe support design, valve selection, P&ID development, equipment layout, equipment specifications, and hydraulic calculations.Develop datasheets for valves and other equipment.Provide technical direction to designers.Develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets.Make sound independent decisions with minimal information.Assist in checkout and startup of systems when necessary.Required Skillsets and Expertise:Significant experience with design of new construction and/or retrofit of power generation or heavy industrial facilities.Ability to take the lead role for detailed design activities.Extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering design principles.Proficiency with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.Experience in development, preparation, and checking of P&IDs.Experience with overall design and layout of piping systems, pipe sizing and routing, material selection, pipe support design, equipment selection, preparation of inquiry packages/data sheets, and specification of tanks, pumps, and balance of plant equipment.Experience with hydraulic calculations.Preferred:Experience with Pipe-Flo (or similar software).Significant working knowledge of process equipment including piping, valves (manual/control/relief), pumps, pressure vessels, and heat exchangers.Experience with relief valve and control sizing.Ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff, and/or vendors.
