Serving diverse market segments including automotive, medical and dental technology, micromechanics, and electronics, Tornos delivers unique solutions and exceptional service to customers worldwide through its global sales and service network.MissionEnsure timely and cost-efficient procurement of materials and services to maintain high supply availability and delivery reliability, enabling short production lead times and low capital commitment. The role directly supports smooth production operations and contributes to strategic procurement goals through supplier management and process automation. Furthermore, the right candidate also strives for improvement of existing processes and organization within the purchasing team.Tasks and responsabilitiesConvert demand specifications into purchase requisitions and orders according to purchasing and quality guidelinesMonitor supplier ordering and delivery processes, escalate deviationsCheck and clarify supplier order confirmations (commercial terms and dates)Actively gather information on preferred suppliers and contractsContribute to supplier performance management by sharing relevant informationDrive supplier performance reviews with regards to On-Time In-Full (OTIF) scores Collaborate cross-functionally to optimize supply chain processesDrive automation in procurement workflowsProactively manage inventory using Andler/Wilson, ABC/XYZ, consignment stock or quantity contractsClosely cooperating with Logistics & Scheduling Manager by driving the planning & purchasing shopfloor meetingsRequired skills and knowledgeEducation & Training:Commercial education; experience in operative procurement or order processingExperience:Minimum 10 years in the machine tool industry or similar industrial environment, preferably in a multinational and multi-site context within the operative purchasing activitiesExperience in project procurement or low-volume/high-mix environment and dealing with technically demanding componentsLeading small teams or projects in operative procurement is a big advantageLanguages:Fluent English (oral & written); additional languages are an assetIT Skills:Proficient in SAP MM Module, Microsoft Office365 and AI; Power BI of advantagePersonal Skills:Adaptability, resilience and professional appearancePlanning/organizing and analytical thinkingClear, fact-based communication; team player
