Job Summary And Requirements This posting This posting will be used to fill 1 permanent full-time position and 1 12-month term position, both working 75 hours bi-weekly. It will establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar positions.This job is based in the thriving and diverse city of Whitehorse in the beautiful Yukon . Our team Strategic Policy And Planning Provides Policy Leadership Across Health And Social Services And Brings a Strategic Lens To The Policy Work Of The Department. We Provide Corporate Policy Services To All Divisions, Including Strategic advice; The development of Cabinet, Cabinet committee and Management Board submissions; Managing the legislative agenda and all work on legislation; Leading the Yukon participation in Federal/Provincial/Territorial Ministers and Deputy Ministers forums; Representing HSS in other intra and inter-governmental work; Leading major consultations and negotiations, including with First Nations; and Undertaking the development of major strategies and plans. Your role Reporting to the Director of Strategic Policy and Planning, this position’s responsibilities include providing strategic thinking and advice on key policy matters; designing and conducting research; formulating and recommending policy, program, and statutory approaches respecting a variety of health and social services issues; and working on the development and implementation of recommended approaches, including leading major legislative development projects. This position will also undertake or support intergovernmental work among federal, provincial, territorial and First Nations governments. Post-secondary degree in social or health sciences, public administration, or other related area. Extensive experience as lead person researching, assessing, and developing policy options within a government or large organizational context. Experience representing organizational interests. Experience with health or social service-related policy is an asset. Experience developing and implementing legislation is an asset.
