For the future of Queensland and the world.We are looking for a Senior Principal Scientist to join our high performing team in Invasive Plants & Animals: Establish the strategic direction of the Invasive Plants and Animals research group within Biosecurity Queensland through liaison with clients and stakeholders (both internal and external), and alignment with relevant state and national initiatives.Just imagine what you could achieve with us. #DPIcareersBiosecurity Queensland (BQ) plays a leadership role in the biosecurity system in collaboration with its stakeholders. BQ leads the Queensland Government's efforts to protect our way of life, environment, biodiversity, human and animal health, industries and economy from plant and animal pest and disease threats.Through supporting the collective efforts of our stakeholders and all Queenslanders, BQ will continue to protect our state and Australia from emerging plant and animal pests and diseases and effectively manage existing ones.Invasive Plants and Animals (IPA) significantly affect the environment, agricultural production, infrastructure, human health and our way of life in general. The IPA program directs, facilitates and delivers strategic and targeted action to reduce the impact of invasive species in Queensland.As our Senior Principal Scientist, you will establish the strategic direction of the Invasive Plants & Animals research group to address priorities for managing weed and pest animals in Queensland.You will know you're achieving success in the role when you: Oversee the development of and manage a research portfolio for the Invasive Plants and Animals program that addresses priorities for managing weed and pest animals in Queensland. Represent the research group at relevant meetings, forums, workshops and conferences. Maintain a culture of quality research through regular project reviews and publication in peer reviewed journals. Contribute to the formation of pest management policy. Ensure that research outcomes are disseminated to peers, clients, stakeholders and the community.
