Senior Production Technologist

The Senior Production Technologist will be responsible for providing advanced technical expertise in well performance, production optimization, and artificial lift systems to support the company’s upstream operations in Malaysia. The role involves planning and executing well intervention programs, monitoring production performance, troubleshooting well issues, and ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective production.Job ResponsibilitiesWell & Production PerformanceConduct well performance analysis using nodal analysis and other diagnostic techniques.Identify and implement production optimization opportunities, including artificial lift, stimulation, and well interventions.Provide technical recommendations for short- and long-term production enhancement strategies.Well & Intervention PlanningDesign and review well intervention, workover, and completion programs in compliance with industry standards.Support drilling and completion teams with production technology input during well planning and execution.Assess well integrity and recommend corrective actions to maintain safe operations.Reservoir & Field SupportCollaborate with reservoir engineers and geoscientists to maximize field recovery.Provide input into reservoir management plans, reserves evaluation, and field development strategies.Support production forecasting and well deliverability planning for annual work programs.Operations & TroubleshootingMonitor daily production performance and troubleshoot underperforming wells.Lead root cause analysis of production-related issues (e.g., sand production, scaling, water cut, wellbore damage).Ensure proper application of flow assurance and production chemistry solutions.Leadership & ComplianceProvide guidance, mentoring, and technical support to junior technologists and engineers.Lead technical reviews, peer assists, and knowledge-sharing sessions.Ensure compliance with governance, HSE standards, and regulatory requirements.Job RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Production Technology, or related discipline (Master’s preferred).Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in production technology, with exposure to Malaysian offshore fields.Strong background in well performance analysis, artificial lift design, well interventions, and production optimization.Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g., Prosper, GAP, MBAL, WellFlo, OFM).Knowledge of well integrity management, flow assurance, and production chemistry.Familiarity with upstream governance and Malaysian regulatory compliance.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with business/commercial awareness.Excellent communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.Technical expertise in production technology and well performance optimization.Strong collaboration skills with drilling, subsurface, and operations teams.Leadership and mentoring capabilities.Safety, compliance, and risk management mindset.Ability to deliver results under challenging and dynamic operating environments.
