Job Description
We are seeking a commercially astute and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor & Tendering Specialist (MEP) to oversee the financial and contractual aspects of our MEP projects. This role spans the full project life cycle, focusing heavily on accurate estimation and costing, leading the tendering process, and ensuring optimal procurement strategies to maximize profitability and compliance.Key Responsibilities1. Tendering & Estimation (Pre-Contract Focus)Lead the preparation of accurate and competitive Bills of Quantities (BoQ), cost estimates, and price analysis for all MEP tenders.Review tender documents, contracts, and specifications to identify potential commercial risks and opportunities.Prepare and finalize the comprehensive tender submission package, ensuring full technical and commercial compliance with client requirements.2. Cost Control & Financial ManagementDevelop detailed project budgets, monitor expenditure, and implement rigorous cost control procedures throughout the project duration.Manage and value variations, claims, and change orders in a timely and accurate manner.Prepare regular financial reports, cash flow forecasts, and final account statements for management review.3. Procurement & Contract AdministrationCoordinate with the technical team to develop a procurement strategy for specialized MEP equipment and materials.Conduct commercial negotiations and manage vendor/subcontractor contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness and adherence to delivery schedules and quality standards.Handle all contractual correspondence, ensuring the company's financial and legal interests are protected.Required Qualifications & SkillsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or related field (e.g., Construction Economics, Civil Engineering).Experience: Minimum of 5-8 years of dedicated experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with a proven track record in tendering and cost control for engineering or construction projects. MEP experience is a major advantage.Professional Certification: Membership in the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) is required.Registration: Registration with QSRBN as a registered Quantity Surveyor (RQS) is highly desirable.Skills: Expertise in cost estimation software, contract management, and strong commercial negotiation skills.
