As part of their continued growth, they are seeking a Senior Researcher to join their R&D team and lead the next wave of innovation in aerogel materials. Position: Senior Researcher (Electric Vehicle Safety)Location: Singapore – Innovation Centre About the RoleWe are seeking a Senior Researcher to lead and execute advanced R&D projects in developing next-generation aerogel particles and materials. You will design and execute experiments, develop new formulations, optimize processes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring novel aerogel applications from concept to reality. This role covers the full cycle from lab-scale innovation to process scale-up, including safety compliance, quality standards, and contribution to intellectual property.Your track record in complex materials research, hands-on mastery of characterization techniques, and ability to translate scientific concepts into commercially viable products will be key in delivering solutions that meet stringent performance, quality, and commercial targets.7 MUST-HAVE RequirementsAdvanced Technical Expertise in Materials Science or ChemistryBachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering.Minimum 6–8 years of related R&D experience in materials science, chemistry, or chemical engineering.Strong foundation in organic/inorganic particle synthesis, material formulation, and development of composites, coatings, or particle-based systems.Specialization in Aerogel or Thermal Insulation MaterialsExtensive hands-on experience in the formulation, development, and optimization of aerogel materials or other thermal insulation products.In-depth knowledge of particle and powder technology, including rheology, caking behaviour, flow characterization, packing, particle interaction, and powder characterization.Proficiency in Advanced Characterization & Testing MethodsSkilled in BET surface analysis, TGA, DSC, SALD, SEM, FTIR, rheometry, mechanical testing, and surface analysis.Ability to design and conduct robust testing protocols, interpret test data, define product specifications, and iterate formulations/designs for improvement.Formulation, Prototyping & BenchmarkingDevelop and test prototypes against defined specifications, quality standards, competitor benchmarks, and customer requirements.Utilize in-house test equipment or engage external testing institutes to assess prototype performance and regulatory compliance.Process Optimization, Scale-Up & Technology TransferProven ability to move from lab-scale experimentation to pilot or production-scale processes.Experience in collaborating with manufacturing teams for process optimization, quality control, and technology transfer.Identify and evaluate new raw materials, processing equipment, and technologies for synthesis and optimization.Strong Documentation, Safety & IP AwarenessPrepare detailed research reports, SOPs, and technical documentation.Maintain meticulous records and databases of all R&D activities.Knowledge of laboratory safety requirements, quality compliance, and contribution to patents or other intellectual property.Problem-Solving & Cross-Disciplinary CollaborationStrong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with proven ability to address complex material challenges.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to work both independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and commercial functions.This Role is Perfect for You If…You are passionate about pushing the boundaries of material innovation, particularly in aerogels and other high-performance particle-based materials.You thrive on combining scientific curiosity with practical application, transforming research concepts into commercially viable products.You enjoy working in a collaborative, fast-paced R&D environment where your contributions directly shape next-generation material solutions.You are driven by the challenge of solving complex technical problems that have real-world industrial and environmental impact.Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
